GCVW #26,300 3.5 Chords oak, splitter, 4-wheeler, trailer, trailer, truck and all the tools. Barely squats old silver!

I wish I had a picture of that Pettibone forklift on the truck. The loader was #22,000 itself, not including the dual tandem 35 foot trailer.

I did not say it was smart. But the load was needed and I did not drive very fast and started stopping way before needed. The owner of the load said he would pay the overload fines.

Pulled the load from Granbury TX to Irving TX about 60 miles. I did not even get up to 60 until I was on the interstate.

Got lucky and did not see the DOT or I would have still been in the lockup.
If I were doing it again I would make two trips. My seat still has an inverted cone shape in it

Oh I just looked again that should read 42,000

I once hauled a home made trailer which started out as a bridge. The I-beam frame was close to a yard thick. It had no suspension. The rear was held up by two semi-trailer axles and the front was held up and steered by a couple of semi-trailer axles on a home made fifth wheel steering mechanism. It was extremely heavy! The load was a middle weight crawler tractor. A John Deere of some sort. I pulled it for about 30 miles across some back roads in West-Central Minnesota. Towing was not the problem. Stopping was. It had NO brakes. There was NO traffic at all. It was a hilly area and I had to come to a dead stop at the top of each small hill and make sure that a sudden stop would not be required at on the way down. I would not have done this on any well traveled road but as it was it worked out fine. After I unhooked, my son tried to use a mere Ford 4x4 to pull it into a pasture for unloading. It pushed him along with all of his wheels locked up and fortunately he had the brains to apply the gas and regain control or it would have jackniffed him. The pulling power of the Cummins is amazing. My guess about total weight would be between 35000 and 45000 pounds.

If you look at that photo of Ricks truck with all the hay it apears to have either bend the frame or bent the leaf springs.

yessir u guys are right...

Leaf springs were bent PASSED point of straight. They were arching backwards.. My truck is missing the overloads, although it has the rubber stops for them. Nothing compared to the 20 that is in the gallery right now, but hey, its my next goal with the truck, once i have acquired and installed 3500 leaf springs, and overloads, and finally get some air to cooler down.. EGTs were a bit toasty with that load at 55-60 (truck pulled it no problem tho)

It was a scary ride tho when wed hit bumps and what not, it also didnt help to load down the truck with four spares two for trailer, and two for truck, but they were needed...

Thanks guys!

Next target, 28 foot gooseneck, how many horses will it hold, BIGGER QUESTION... will my leafs hold it?

stay tuned to find out..

Rick

on our planting trailer, 25+5 PJ gooseneck we had 3,000 gallons of fert. that alone weighs over 30,000 and plus three pallots of seed and insect. each weighing 2,000-3,000 lbs. 38,000(stuff on trailer)+5,000(or wat ever the trailer weighs)=43,000 towed, 50,000 total with truck. on a 2500 dirty. would only pull it about 30mph and we only did it a couple of times very short distances. would compress the airbags with 100psi in them to a couple inches. . we only used this setup one year. just to much weight

Dang! Is that the Firestone 5K# airbags? That what I run - if it was, seeing them that flat would've made me pucker up!
