Short GN Cargo Trailer

I have a mobile oil change service and I am looking to upgrade my rig soon... Right now I have a 6'x10' Pace American that I have extremely modified over the last 6 years and 300,000+ miles and now it is time to replace it... I am looking for a 14'-16' x7' gooseneck with 4" drop tandem axles...
Is there a company that builds trailers like this >> shortest I can find is 20-24' plus the GN. The nature of my business puts my in parking lots that are difficult to maneuver around in as it is much less with a long trailer... BUT I need the extra storage space that my current trailer doesn't offer.
I know it is unusual and I will probably end up having to build it my self or special order one but I figured I would see if you have see or heard of a company that build something like this....

Instead of building from scratch you could start with a horse trailer. That is a 10' stock trailer. The pic. behind the swing is stock with 15" tires. It hit my bed rail on my 04 4x4 dodge 2500 so I jacked it up 3" and changed the spindles out also, 5 lug to a 6 lug for 16" rims. That gave 5" overall and 10 ply tires. The other pic. is after the lift.

That is basically what I have been finding also.... but 6'6" is just too narrow for the equipment I am going to install... I need 7' minimum for my tanks and plumbing the way I designed it... I guess when it comes down to it I am going to have to give somewhere... lol

Sounds like you need to build you a custom trailer, but I would still consider looking for a used gooseneck for parts, and the frame to save a little money. Good luck!

W&W makes some 14' to 26' GNs in 6' or 7' feet wide:

Found 'em on this website: http://www.jimfg.com

If you are in tight places then why not consider a TAG trailer?? Goose necks are great, but a tag will track alot closer in the path of the truck tires since you have the "swing" factor... and if the weight isn't too much you can get an extended hitch insert and the trailer will track that much closer...

If your set on a goose neck, then you might consider looking at the shorter one you found and seeing if you can just reinstall the back axle to the front side of the front axle, and then have someone cut off the tail... It is ALOT easier shortening a trailer than it is to lengthen it... Besides if you are in places that are that tight, you might benefit from having the axles placed as far forward as possible and just make sure your liquids (heavy stuff) are in the front of the trailer...

I agree. I have a 12' GN dump and a 12' TAG dump. The GN rides nicer but for tight spots I have to use the TAG.

I have been told by several dealers that United Expressline will build any thing you want. I have seen 7wide, 20 on the foot flat goosenecks on ebay a while back. Not a horse trailer look a like.

I am looking at both a V nose 7x12'or14' bumper pull and a 14' GN...
I have a bumper pull now and I like it with my air hitch but it is lacking space and is in need of replacement... I am just ready to upgrade everything about it from the suspension to the equipment inside it....
I am running about 5000lbs+ right now and I plan to add about 1500-2000lbs to that... I do a lot of highway traveling for my contract work but I am also running a lot in town... I have pulled a GN and I like the way they handle but I haven't pulled one much in town...
One upgrade I plan to install in a backup camera and distance gauge to save a lot of time backing up to client vehicles... In this business every minute counts because I work on volume.

I like the WW Aluminum trailer >> I am collecting materials and equipment now and I hope I find a trailer to match my needs by January.... Maybe I should have just kept the van I setup last year! lol... Oh well... just money >> right?!?!

Jensen Trailers out of Humbolt, Ia will build you anything you want and they are one of the best built trailers you can buy, but they don't give them away either.

Oilguy, remember to look up, and out. You can gain allot of storage space for light weight stuff like filters, rags, etc by raising the roof a little and storing it overhead. You can go 8'6" wide and have the wheels inboard of the trailer sides. Keep the heavy stuff low. Take advantage of the area over the neck and between the rails. I might even consider having the "neck" raised. I had mine built with just under 6' of clearance. I have never gotten close to the bed rails that way and I could add boxes in the bed or even a utility bed if I wanted. Since you're looking for a low ground clearance look, an electric step on the side would be nice. Four inch drop axles are available in both spring and torflex design. The torflex will ride better I believe. I don't know what GVW you're looking for but I wouldn't get anything less than 7k axles, that way you can run 16" tires just like the 1st gens. They're easy to find if you have a problem. This would also put you in the 15k GVW range.
