Reese 5th wheel install

Reese 5th wheel install
I have a reese 15k 5er hitch I need to install. I just purchased a 04.5 3500 drw 4x2. Was reading the threads about the mounting kits for these new trucks. I looked at the reese website and found this "no drill kit". It says this fits 03 and up dodge 2500. It does'nt say anything about the 3500. Has anyone used this kit on a 3500 drw 4x2?
Thanks Wayne

I havent installed a Reese, but I just finished an install of a Pullrite. The No bolt kit from pullrite said it was for all 3/4 and 1 ton 4X4 trucks. This kit would not work on a 2 wheel drive 1 ton. That being said, it seems as if the 3500 2 wheel drive truck must have a diffrent setup. I would imagine other brands of hitches would be similar.
Hope this helps.

I have the 2004 3500 DRW 2 wheel drive, the kit # for Pull-rite is 0828 for the 2 wheel drive. You will have to call Reese for the kit # for the Reese rails they do have them but does require some drilling.

you do have to buy a kit for the new style truck if it has overloads, mine did it seems that dodge moved there overloads in and the brackets are hitting the overloads on the frount so the new kit has you drilling from the top of the frame then you have to fish the bolt though. at least thats the way mine is

I did not think Dodge allowed drilling the top of the frame per a TSB. If the Reese rails were installed that way, I think the frame warranty would voided. Is my thinking correct?

Nah, the two fronts bolt to the sides of the frame and the brackets reach in instead of out. The two rear brackets are different and bolt to the inside of the frame rails. On my 2500 I re used the brackets with new hardware. Any hitch shop or trailer shop should have the kits by now. The install is actually easier on the new frame as you don't have to worry about drilling into anything on the other side. The steel is a little thinner too so it's not as much work. I have 37000 on mine now with a lot of towing. No problems...
I could be wrong but it seems I read the no drill won't fit the 3500 with the overloads.

Doing a install of a Reese 18K signature series this weekend. Opened up the kit and read the directions last night, it has two plates that go on the outside of the frame, you have to drill 4 holes in the frame 21/32" and then using a special wire (provided in the kit) you fish the special bolts through. I emailed Reese before buying the hitch and they sent me the Dodge frame guildlines, I have it in pdf, the Reese mount does not violate the guildlines. Should be fun, I will have pictures on Sunday or Monday.

I saved my Reese from my 02 Dodge Ram2500 and had it put on my 04 Ram3500 SRW. The new kit required two holes drilled on each side of the truck frame and then bolts pulled to the holes using special springs to encircle the bolts. Went well and it complies with the DC order to NOT drill holes in the frame except where THEY say.
