took a bunch of measurements and it looks like I can drop service bed down 8.5" without any issues of strength with the bed..which will raise my bed camper 4" higher then it used to be.

I really wanted it the same height as before, so I think I will cut what I need and set it down and see if there is room to drop it another 4" if possible.

if I can not lower it more then 8.5" the overall height of camper will still be under 9'6'

well after taking a ton of measurements and searching the web for weights on these beds.. I decided I need to cut some weight..

so I am going to cut up the bed and just use the two sides and mount the boxes to the trailer

I cut off the front and also got the tailgate off, but I had to stop since I kept setting the grease in bed on fire just could not breath in shop anymore.

A couple of the Wrangler guys on jeepforum are going there in two weeks but I'm not going to make this one. I am restoring a bed camper and want to go once it is finished.

Definitely a good idea to cut up the service bed to cut down on some weight. Plus you'll be able to tuck the the boxes into the side of the camper making it all look more integrated.

Are you going to move the mounting locations to the top of the service boxes to lock down the camper? Just curious 'cause from the photos it looks like you're going to end up covering up your old tie down points with the service boxes, or at least make them unaccessable.

Great build
