Thinking of getting a 03 3500 QC SRW 4wd long bed and would like to know how much does the bed settle after dropping the fifth wheel onto the hitch. It seems the 3500 is about 3 1/2 taller than my F250 4WD at the end of the bed. I currently have about 6 1/2 of clearance and wonder how much would I have with the Ram 3500. My pin weight is around 1700 pounds. Thanks

Take a look in the Members Photo's, there are a bunch of pics of trucks and 5th wheels.

You can kinda tell how much squate by the pics.

At least until someone chimes in.

I put about 650# on the ball (no weight dist) for a test; the difference in height was 3-1/2".

I have the same truck you are talking about. I have a 30' Jayco Designer 5th wheel with about 1800# hitch weight and it sets my truck down about 3". I had to lower the shackle bolts to raise the 5th wheel up for proper clearance. Pulls great.

Ed, I have been looking at a Jayco Designer RK3030 5th wheel camper. NADA says the camper weighs 7580, but I suspect that is without a slider. Do you know what they weigh?

Go to www.jayco.com and you can look up the exact weights on your fifth wheel. Someone said that each slideout adds approximately 1,000 lbs.

Ed, I already tried that. They show weights and floor plans for current models but not older models.

Stevenc. I have a 2003 1 ton srw 4x4. Our 5th wheel pin weight is around 21 to 2200 lbs depending how we have it loaded. It sets the back of our truck down like 3 to 3 1/2 inches. Sets level hooked up and is still not on the overload springs. Rides like a dream.
