could someone please tell me as i am new to gooseneck trailers,

plan to purchase one shortly what i need to know is there a wiring harness for it. is there one that plugs in underneath and goes to an outlet in the bed or ? do you just plug into the one on the bumper ( I have towing package already)

My other truck ( ford) has a outlet in the bed for a gooseneck but i bought it this way.....

I just run my cord over the tailgate and use the plug on the bumper. They do sell kits though to put a plug in the bed.

 

If you use the 7 pin RV plug on the trailer it's the same as the factory Dodge plug if you have a trailer tow package. You can plug it into the one in the bumper but you'll need allot of cord if you turn tight to the right. You can get the 'in bed' kit from e-trailer for around $60. IIRC it's a plug and play unit, no splicing required.

 

I installed an in-bed harness, I don't have to worry about the paint or ripping things apart when I jackknife the trailer. It takes less than an hr. to mount it and wire tie the harness into place. All connections are water tight with no cutting / splicing

Put a plug in the bed.The bumper plug will make a unreliable connection. Basically the factory plug is junk. It was in my 04 and it is in my 06. The better quality plug in works every time.

 

I have my trailer wired so the cord comes off the middle of the neck of the trailer(GN) and goes to the bumper plug on the truck. A rubber bungie takes up the slack and keeps the cord off the tailgate.
