Need trailer to haul pickup truck.

Any of you guys know of any nationwide rental companies that carry auto carriers that can haul a pickup? I need to haul my GMC 82 pickup (8' bed, standard cab) from Jacksonville, Fl to where I live now, in Crestview. This is a 300 mile haul on I-10. I will be pulling this with my 2006 Dodge CTD 2500Ram. My truck has a class IV hitch, so a fifth-whell trailer will not do. The GMC truck I am pulling only weighs 5,200 lbs, however; I have checked at UHaul, Penske, Ryder, and all their carriers are for cars only, with a 4,000 lbs load rating, this goes for their tow dollies and tow bars as well.. Any Help would be appreciated, Thanks!

I would go to a place that sells trailers and see if they rent. Find one that is around your new place and tow it doen there and back with the truck. They might even rent straps if they rent trailers. If I was in the same situation as you this is what I would do.

If the trailer option doesn't work out, is it possible to purchase your own tow bar, and flat-tow it down I-10? Disconnect the driveshaft and take it easy down the highway.

I lived in JAX for a few years and also did the drive to Pascagoula, MS from there often - I used to see all kinds of things being towed out there.

Check the equipment rental places. We rented one a few years ago to haul a suburban. I think it cost about $75 for a weekend.

Last ditch tell U-haul you are hauling a 69 camaro or something,as long as your tuck will fit on the trailer....

I map-quested it. It's 310 mile's west across I-10. It's near Pensacola.

FlaCracker.

I'm going to be in Ft Lauderdale on Wednessday. I may try to do some Florida runs while I'm there to get my capitol built back up. I might head toward's that way if I can put a load together. Let me know if you found a trailer.

My brother in law rented a trailer from Penske. It was at least 16 foot and eight lug wheels. This was in Tx a couple of years ago. You might ask them about this. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Ron. It apears to be a geographical issue. I have noticed in the midwest, i.e., Texas, Oklahoma, and so on, that you can get the larger the auto/truck carriers from 16-20', that are not fifth-wheel types. Unfortunately, you just can't seem to find these in the southeastern US. I am probably just going to go with a tow-dolly, this should work.

By the way....Texas in not in the midwest. We are a southern state and darn proud of it!

Is there a United Rentals out there?
Also find a place that rents Backhoes or Tractors.
They will have a trailer for rent.
