Need help planning a July vacation on the west coast.

A couple buddies and me are saying the heck with all the bullcrap in our life, taking a month off from work, hooking up to the 5th wheel and hitting the road. We are going to head towards toward California and Vegas, and try to have as much fun as possible along the way.

Since we are still kinda young (28) we’d like to find some outdoor festivals of some sort along the way. Someplace where we can park the camper and party. I’m looking for some recommendations on places to stop in western states during the month of July. I’m interested in any place, any event, big or small, as long as good time can be had.

Thanks,

Carl

Can't beat a stop at Mt Shasta, might still be topped in snow in July.........

Circus circus has a campground out behind the casino, that would put you almost right on the vegas strip. The fireworks are great in laughlin, nv and the Riverside casino has a campground right on the strip. If you are in Laughlin check out the loosers lounge in the riverside casino. It gets hopping pretty good thursday, friday, and saturday nights.

We did a similar trip last summer. Went down through Washington and Oregon along the coast to Anahiem, and came back through Vegas and Salt Lake City.

I don't know much about festivals, but you should try to drive the Oregon coast highway (US 101). It is a spectacular drive that winds along the rugged coast. At the southern end of Oregon there are many things to do including dune buggy and jet boat tours.

The 101 will take you as far as Los Angeles ( possibly further, but that was as far as we went), but by far the best scenery was in Oregon, and Northern California. In Northern California you travel through the Redwood Forest.
