Looking to Purchase Toyhauler

Hi All, I'm looking at 5th wheel toyhaulers and have narrowed it down to two models. One is a Sportsman Sportster 2910 and the other is a Keystone Raptor 299MP. Does anyone have any experience (pros and cons) with these particular models and/or manufacturers? I'd be willing to look at other manufacturers, but these two are available in my area. I will be pulling it with the truck in my signature. Thanks.

As soon as those BFGs wear out get some "E" rated tires.

As for toyhaulers. . .I bought a weekend warrior 5 years back. . . .talk about poorly built. . . . .

Do your home work.

Just bought a new 2009 Raptor 299MP on Friday

Met my criteria of 5th wheel, separate garage, single slide out in living area, not too long (33'). Came with the generator, dual electric beds in back, screen for garage area. Took it out Friday-Monday. First ever 5'ver, so I can't compare but we LOVED it, no issues, everything worked. The standard amenities are attractive (stereo, LCD TV, electric awning, fuel transfer station, outside shower, coffee pot etc)
Towed great, weight is about 10k empty. I only had one ATV in it (other is down for maintenance) and a modest amount of gear. I have airbags, that made a big difference. I am looking at new E rated tires, as the BFG's I am running are D rated
The picture above is deceiving, the pin is not down in the jaws and the front landing gear is holding it up a little higher than towing height. I do not have a lift in the rear, but went with 17" aftermarket rims and bigger tires. When I get my E rated, I will probably drop down in overall diameter a little.
PM if you want info on price etc.

2008 cyclone 40ft toy hauler 5th wheel for sale

Camper is great had it last year and a half, but wife wants to go back to motor home so she can pee every 50 miles. Hate to part with but am willing for 33K. I chose this brand for its strength of frame and record of similar models service issues and they were few.

I suggest you look at the Desert Fox from Northwood. They are one of the most well made Toy Haulers out there. I currently have a bumper pull Desert Fox TH and I looking to upgrade to a 5er and I will only look at the DF. THey are 4 season and very sturdy.

Make sure to check the trailer's weight rating, a few I looked at last weekend would easily overload a 1 ton. One had a 4000 pound toy payload, that wasn't counting the weight of fuel, water and propain. Sure was nice for 60,000 something bucks lol.

I have an 08 39 ft Fuzion same maker (Keystone) as the Raptor, has 140 gal of water storage 20 gal of fuel and insulated under belly. Best thing is that the vapor wall between garage and living area is sliding glass with and curtain so it is way more open than a regular wall but private when you want some plus 2 queens in the garage. Best purchase and I looked for 2 years. Ours has 4 queen beds 1 double and a couch (4 kids and 3 grandkids). Look on Ebay get your best price then go to your local dealer, ours listed for $68,500 paid $44,600 and didn't have to travel to get plus they want your money!!! Good Luck

I have a 3814 Raptor and love it. Have had no issues with it. I looked for over a year before we purchased it. Very well built and talking about deals. Got it for 30% less than they were asking. Bought new for 33,000 and it has all of the options that were available at that time.

What kind of bathroom?

Does the Sportster have a all-in-one bathroom? My friends have a Sportster and the downside is only one person can use it at a time. If someone is on the toilet do you really want to be in there brushing your teeth? See what I mean? A seperate toilet is a better set-up in my opinion.

We have a Winners Circle by Dutchman. Love it! The Victory Lane is the same model. (It depends where you live as to the name.) It tows great, has a 12' garage w/ vapor barrier and 30 gal. gas tank w/ pump station for the toys and a 5500 watt generator. Check 'em out before you buy.
