Loading the Bed
 

I just took my truck to an old scale to weigh it because I be will loading some equipment that combined, weigh 2k + pounds into the bed and want to make sure I'm not going to be over loading the truck too much. Here are the numbers I got (which don't seem correct):

• Curb Weight: 6960lbs
• Curb Weight, Front: 4220
• Curb Weight, Rear: 2710

Here is what the sticker says on the door for loading:

• GVWR: 9000
• GAWR, Front: 5200lbs
• GAWR, Rear: 6010

Looking around on here it seems that people only recommend loading up to 2k or so on the truck, but it seems I can go more towards 3k with what I weighed in at; I plan on taking it to a better scale when I get the time. I'm not too concerned with it being overloaded as I've seen some of the stuff you fellas have done with these trucks, but wanted to know your takes on my numbers and what maximum payload I could throw in the bed and still be safe, for future reference. Thanks!

Just take your GVWR minus your curb weight (make sure you weigh yourself with a full load of fuel, food, everything you need for your trip) minus your now curb weight and thats your carrying capacity.

I shoulda stated it was with a full tank. I guess it is correct, 2040lbs carrying capacity with me in it sounds about on par w/ everyone else. I was looking at the rear GAWR and it I should just used the GVWR. Thanks.

In my opinion, the weak link is your tires. Just make sure you don't overload your tires weight capacity which should be stamped on the side.

For tires, go with a minimum 10 ply tire.
