Leaving the Cummins family

Sorry guys, I just had to do it. We traded the Kountry Star and truck on a Dutch Star motor home. Cat powered on a Freightliner chasis. I think I'll miss the Cummins but the Cat does pull pretty good. My old back was getting pretty tired setting up at night and then breaking down in the morning to travel. Besides, I gained more space for the surf rods and golf clubs.

Ya know, Bill, we'll still let you hang around.

If money were no object, I'd probably have a diesel pusher.....with enough torque to pull my CTD behind!

I just wanted to say thank you for choosing a CAT in that motorhome , that is one less RV I would ever have to work on

I don't think we'll hold it against you... Besides, it's on a Freightliner chassis!

Ditto on the Freightliner chassis and the Newmar family of fine motor coaches!
Good luck.

At least you didn't trade for one of those Ferd V10's

Gas coach was out of the question. Needed the air ride for my better half. Of course my old back will appreciate it too.
Really wanted to stay with Cummins but the dealer made me such an attractive offer on this coach we had to trade.
I'll still stick around and enjoy the site though. With about 30 years of rv towing behind me, maybe I'll be able to help somebody.

I think if you had to lay on your stomach in a small 3x3 opening on top of the valve cover while under the master bed to work on them, you would have the same feeling as JohnCA58. I know I do with any of them that come in with either a Cummins or a Cat

Can't argue with you there. But these new engines aren't supposed to break, shoot you dont even have to put oil in em. They are a great improvement over the older technologies. RIGHT.

I feel for ya, and i agree. I6 is definatley a little constrained in your situation, but then i think back to changing the spark plugs on a 1982 class C FURD van motorhome (whatever it was)and how that wonderful Dog house came off only to reveal no possible way to change that rear plug. What were the engineers thinking. Opps maybe they weren't

Bill, is it a new coach with the ACERT C10? Or is it the 3126 CAT? Lots and lots of problems have been coming out of the woodwork on the ACERTs. Just curious.

I hear ya. Nowadays a tech will spend up to an hour just looking for the doghouse. Every mfg has a different way to get access to the engine. I always hate the ones that came in that were 2 years older or more and had never had the doghouse raised. LOL Stock air filter and dirty as all get out.

Monty,
Its the 3126. Couldn't reach the price on a new coach so this is a used one. Everything checked out ok so we're packing for a short trip. Going up to the Alex Bay area of northwestern NY. Haven't been there in a long time.
You're also right on the engine work. Mine is a large panel under the bed about 5 x 5 but its still tough getting down to the valves.
Oh well, I guesss I'll just have to suffer through.

Bill
