I just bought a gooseneck horse trailer and a guy at work told me legally my stacks have to be 8" above the trailer. He said this is the law for cattleliners just wondering if anyones heard of this.

 

Sounds like a typical useless law, so its probably true

 

one reason for the law was a study done years ago regarding the effects of the exhaust on the cattles health. Breathing the exhaust fumes caused a higher rate of illness in the cattle.

before I hauled my horses with stacks I'd take a little test drive with my wife driving and me in the trailer going highway speeds in several directions in different types of wind to see how bad the fumes are my horses are going to breathe

in other words I wouldn't haul my horses behind a truck with stacks, you're asking for all kinds of lung problems, ask your veterinarian

IMO if your exaust dumps out under the truck its just as bad, the only way it wouldnt get in the trailer is if it went out the side, i don't know how often you will haul your horses but i made a 5in tail pipe that i can change very fast for when i'm pullin my 30ft tag WHITE camper.

I was going to buy a diverter from Wally at FTE diesel & dump in right after the rear axle when I pulled the rv. That way you could still run your stacks at the same height. I think it was $165.
