Help - How much cost for a 5th wheel setup installed?
I have a new 2007 truck, I am getting prices from $600 to $1200 to get these things installed. The first place I took it too spent 3 hours and said that they couldn't install a hitch because the 2007 hitches were not out yet.
I thought this would be the same as 2006 truck as far as install a hookup, what gives? What would be a normal price for this work?
Thanks

well the one i have ( highjaker 4way) was 700.00 installed. but the install is actually pretty easy with the directions on their website.took me 2hrs to install the slider rails on my new truck ( an 07) the only tough part was fishing the stove bolts through the frame till i figured an easier way. i soldered 5' peices of wire on the end of the bolts then fished the wire pulling the bolt through. if you wrap the wire in the thread it's tough to get the bolt through the whole with out going bigger, and i didn't wanna chance the bolt spinning when i was tourqeing them down. if i figured that earlier probally would have only taken an hour.

I don't trust anyone to do it. I had a Dealer installed a hitch in my previous truck. I was going to move it to the new truck only to find out that they used the wrong brackets and forgot two bolts. I don't know about you, but I think guy who design the rail setup knows a lot more about physics than the guy at the RV dealership. If they say use certain brackets and bolts, there must be a reason for them.
I installed new rails in a few hours and I know its correct. Anthony

I would do it myself,if you have the skill.Mine was installed were I purchased my trailer. The hitch seems OK but the details are terrible.I had to fix or replace little things.

Get the hitch you want using the correct mounting kit, and do it yourself. I install a sig. series slider myself, and worked on it a few minutes each night for a week. I mounted and shimmed everything so level, and undercoated bolt holes I drilled, first class job for sure, you won't find a place to do it like that for sure.
