Heavy Duty Tires

A few weeks ago, you guys told me about load range F & G tires for my truck/camper. Coupla problems...........1. Can't find a dealer anywhere, so far, who even has them listed in their catalogs. 2. Truck shops seem to start at 20", and have no interest in anything smaller. As I understand it, F or G tires will give me a load range of about 3800 lbs., and take pressures of 110 psi. Where can I find these tires ?? Does anyone know if they're available in 32" or 33" O.D. ?? 'Preciate any help..............I need 'em pretty soon. Thanks. Lar.

Re:Heavy Duty Tires

Yah, Rickson's 245 x 19.5 look like just what the doctor ordered.............except for the $3,000.00 price tag for 4 wheels and tires. I'd like 'em, but just can't afford 'em. If I did go that route, how much could I get for my '02 aluminum factory option wheels in new condition ?? Thanks. Re:Heavy Duty Tires

Try your local Goodyear dealer. Tell them you what to see there commercial tire selection for light trucks.
If they don’t know what you are taking about ask were the closest Goodyear “truck tire"dealer is they will most likely have them in stock, a lot of “lowboy” trailers use this type of tires.
Re:Heavy Duty Tires

Goodyear Uni-steel tires are what you are looking for. they make them in 10, 12, and 14 ply and in many different tread patterns for 16" rims.

Re:Heavy Duty Tires

Look for the G Series line of tires same as big truck tires but in smaller sizes. G159 standard steer tire,G133 Drive tire Good tires cost aliitle more than standard but built alot better. They may have alot more choices now. I used to work for them for about 7 years and did outside and Commercial sales

Re:Heavy Duty Tires

> > I've pretty well given up on 16's. The only F or G rated tires I've found - and believe me, I've looked - are 30" in diameter, and would make that truck look like it was riding on a roller skate. No thanks. Rickson wants a big price for their wheels, and I'd hafta have 'em shipped clear from the east coast to the west coast. It'd cost a fortune for shipping. They're not in production now, either, and won't be for 4 to 6 weeks or more. I'll be long gone on vacation by then. So........Friday I got an answer from an outfit here in Calif. that makes a lot of wheels, and says they have the wheels I need for my 2500 SRW to mount 19.5" tires for $255.00 each + shipping. I emailed them back for pictures, but with the long weekend, I won't have an answer till Tuesday. Once I have the wheels, I've found an excellent local shop to buy the 245/70R19.5 tires from, and have them mounted. Right now, I'm thinking Michelins with a fairly aggressive tread. Comments ?? Lar.

Re:Heavy Duty Tires

??? ??? Should have added to that - one local truck tire dealer told me he didn't recommend Michelins cause of cracking at the edge of the tread in the hot weather we have here in the desert. I think he's full of B.S., as do some other dealers here. What do you guys think ?? Lar.

Re:Heavy Duty Tires

It has been a few years since I was in the tire Business but Michelins had the worst warrenty. We had a Commercial account with GTE phone Company trucks they had several blow outs and tread seperation problems. When We called Michelin all they had to say is we dont built bad tires. Hmmm now we all know that no one is Perfect. We changed them out to the GY G series no more problems. And GY took care of the warrenty on the Michelin Tires as a show of Good faith

Re:Heavy Duty Tires

Got a reply back this morning, and I'm going to talk to them on the phone today. Outfit is called Stockton Wheel, in Stockton, CA., at www.stocktonwheel.com . They say their "Power Wagon" style wheel will take care of me. Pictures are in the Military & in the 4x4/off road sections. Might just get this show on the road after all. Lar.

??? ??? I've been looking at the 245/70R19.5 tires, but does anyone know if the 265/70R19.5 tires will rub, or if they'd be OK ?? Lar.

Re:Heavy Duty Tires

Back in 1988 or '89 I had a Michelin dealer tell me the same thing: "Michelin doesn't make bad tires, there must be something wrong with your car". I went to Sears and bought some Perelli's and the car rode BETTER than new. I have never-since bought a Michelin tire, and never will. Too bad so many new cars come with their sorry tires on them from the factory.
