heartland rv products??

Hi guys, im looking at getting a new toy hauler, and the wife and i really like the cyclone 3912 toy hauler, made by heartland rv. Its a 40 footer and we are going to full time in it for a little while, but mainly i was just wondering what peoples experiences were with heartland products. Thanks, Jordan

Jordan,

Go look around over here http://www.heartlandowners.org/forum/ ... I am strongly considering getting a Heartland Landmark in the near future and I have been reading this site for awhile... while they had/have some quality control issues with all there units, the factory folks seem to really be concerned with the customer both pre and post sale... I have gotten calls from service folks at Heartland (good marketing) and I am still 2 years away from ordering...

The wife and I really want a Cyclone ourselves. When we looked at them they appeared to be well made. I also have seen few complaints about them.

Jordan,
I am not trying to discourage your choice of an RV, but I see in your pictures that your truck is a 3/4 ton. I would suggest you would later wish you had a 1-ton dually. I think most people would not try to pull a 40 foot trailer very far with a 3/4 ton.

If you possibly can, hook your truck to a 40 foot trailer and take it down the road. If you have never pulled a trailer that large, it is hard to imagine just how big they really are.

Just some things for you to consider.

Daniel

What is the difference between 2500 and 3500 besides overload springs?
I understand dually vs. single axle... But you can add tembrons or bags and handle the weight just fine.

You can make it handle the weight, but stability is another thing without the dually wheels.

My point was to consider the size of the trailer before purchase.

My son is pulling a 5th wheel which is about 37 feet long with a 3/4 Dodge CTD and he tells me that it is just not enough truck for the size and weight. He is considering something bigger than these light duty trucks. He would not consider going up to a 40 foot 5th wheel.

I am simply trying to point out that most people have no idea of what it is like to pull a 40 foot trailer.

i have pulled a 37 footer with my truck, i would, in the future like to get a dually down the road, but for now it is one at a time. i'm not lookin to be doin 80 on the freeway with it, and i know i will have to be careful pulling ANYTHING that big. i have some airbags on the rear and i do also have the camper special package with overloads and sway bars. I am an experienced truck driver and do appreciate the concern and advice that you all have given. And yes looking in the mirror with a trailer that big it looks like it never ends! but its a trailer worth slowing down and going through the effort for.

The trailer is long, tall and heavy and you know it's back there. I do feel safer with the 1 ton DRW, however. I'm still getting used to the Tow/Haul feature; the down-shift surge causes my brake controller to grab too soon resulting in what could be described as a bucking. I've been told to back off on the brake controller sensitivity a little. Just haven't had a chance to experiment yet.

If you want a high quality toy hauler that will take full-time use, check into the sunnybrooks. I sell them and they are nice. www.sunnybrookrv.com

Thumbs up

We just got a 2008 Heartland 5th wheel (Bighorn), though not a toy hauler. We did a lot of research and for the features we wanted we think it is the most trailer for the money. No regrets so far.

It's 40 feet long and 16,000 lbs loaded. I pull it with a 3500 single rear wheel and have no regrets not getting the dual wheels. I agree that the dual wheels give you a more stable and safe platform for towing, but 99% of the time I'm driving the truck with no trailer.

A 2500 with 4.10 rear gears, and added airbags would certainly pull it (as it's the same engine and trans) but with the 3500 you are rated for 23000 lbs GCVW but not so with the 2500.

No complaints about the Heartland 3795 Cyclone ( 38+ ft.) It has been great --- it's big and heavy but it tows great with my setup.
I do like the stability of the DRW and personally feel better with the 1 ton braking performance with the larger trailers.
If you go with the Heartland Cyclone I believe you would be making a fine choice.

i would encourage anybody to check into this sysem it came factory on my monte vista and it is awesome

i less chug/jerk and bouncing from towing my 38 foot vs my buddy and his 30 footer and the trailer axles have a setup on them also its great

i am also thinking of this hitch for extra ride comfort
