Gooseneck Hitches?

Looking to buy a gooseneck hitch to haul tobacco bales, hay, and other farm items. Have read alot about B&W turnover, Una-goose, Diamond, and drop-n-lock hitches. Just want some opinions on which one and why. Thanks in advance.

I have had really great success with the B&W. Also all my buddies us it as well - one friend has hauled more than 40k lbs (all vehicles and second trailer with scrap metal) with his and it didn't mess it up.

I use mine with gooseneck and the campanion - which is wonderful too! Very expensive way to go but the adaptability and useability is what I was after.

The only two things I don't really like is that you have to loosen 5 nuts before you get the pin released to remove the campanion - and then need to torque to 40 lbs on one bolt and 80 lbs on the other 4 to reinstall the campanion. Also, the gooseneck below the bed has rusted terribly. I don't know if they have started to powdercoat yet - but that would be nice. I hate rust!! The truck isn't rusting just the hitch assembly, bolts and springs.

All things considered - I think it is the best option.

i have 2 Curt hideaway gn hitches and would not recomend them to anyone! the pull pins used to hold and flip the ***** have both fell apart, bent, and broke several times, and the spring loaded hooks for the safety chains get bent the first time you make a sharp turn.they are also VERY noisy, clunking every time u start-stop.

But I have a Colibert too, JD why do you feel the Colibert is stronger?
I like mine too but I would always buy the B&W before it.

look at them the bw hitch is more than enough dont get me wrong but my colibert has a 10 or so inch by 1 inch thick solid piece between the frame rails and from i looked at them the colibert looked heavier and i like that billet steel ball

That plate is ridiculously heavy! I just didn't like the 'clamp' to the frame and then the single bolt through the frame part.

But I have a whole bunch of miles on mine and never had a moments worry. I never comes out of the bed so that wasn't an issue.

Take a look at http://www.codyhitch.com

Cheaper alternative but just as strong and you don't have to pull a lever. I'm completely satisfied with mine and I haul gooseneck trailers all the time.

I have the B&W. I bought it for the weight rating and for the other accessories. Never know when you could run in to some other set up.

I have the Reese rail system. They have a new version out, Signature series, I think, that pins down into the receptacles in the bed so there is no rail on the floor. My gooseneck hitch will shift and clunk every so often but nothing more than noise. I have had 18K pounds behind the truck and no problems. Plus I can change over to a fifth wheel slider very easily.

Anything that ain't attached real well is gonna bend something eventually.
