gooseneck hitch extender
 

im looking for a gooseneck hitch extender for my 06 mega cab and was wondering what was out there and what seems to work well. i have looked on the net but havent found what im looking for. i have a b&w turnover ball and was looking for something that would fit in it and move the trailer back to keep from hitting my cab. i was thinking about 12-16" back would work for me. thanks for the help. tate

And that's why I converted my GN to a 5th wheel so I could put the Pullrite Super Glide automatic slider on.
I've since moved to the 8 foot bed and will convert the trailer back to the GN.

B&W has an extender, don't think it is the length you are looking for though.
You sure you need that much? Seems like the pin weight would be back much farther then is desirable.

I am looking at the PopUp SB116 which extends my trailer 16" vs. the B&W Texa4200 which is a 10" extension. I have a 32' wilson gooseneck and a 1 ton short box. Anybody have any experience with either? Is the release leaver for the Popup a problem?

There's no way to ever prevent any trailer from hitting the cab. Watching carefully is the only answer. Even moving the hitch back it will still eventually hit.

I'm pretty sure the laws of physics state otherwise. Unless you are speaking in terms of 360* of rotation, which obvously it will hit, and the laws of physics agree with.

Exactly. And to me, the extended hitched will give you a false sense that it will never ever hit, and just get you into trouble. Simply watch closer and save $1000. Maybe more.

So because he has a mega-cab, and probably can't have more than 30* in relation to the truck/trailer, and he wants to increase that to something where he can actually turn somewhat, he is absent minded?

You're trying way to hard...

No, I'm saying no matter what you do, any trailer will eventually hit. Period. And I've seen where some people get adapters, and have a false sense that their trailer will never strike the cab ever and then are surprised when it still does. That's all. He can go stretch his truck to have twelve doors and a 20 foot bed, and a trailer will still eventually hit.

I think obviously NOT. You literally can't even use full lock if you have a square-front trailer. They even make specific sliding goose neck mounts for in town, so you can actually make a 90* turn. This is a common modification to a MegaCab.

That's all fine. But even adding that, it'll still hit eventually. Even adding a bracket that hitches the gooseneck to the bumper, it will still hit the cab eventually.

I have seen it and was going to look it up for you. it doesn't have a cab taller that what it's pulling like what were discussing here.
