Golf cart in short bed while pulling travel trailer...

Anyone do this? I want to put our new golf cart in the bed of our Megacab while pulling the travel trailer. Now I'm pretty sure the golf cart will require the tailgate to be down because it will be too long and will require support for the rear wheels. The obvious problem with this is the tongue jack could hit the tailgate during sharp turns. If I remove the tailgate I need to suport the rear wheels of the golf cart with something. Does anyone do something similar? Or have any ideas how to accomplish this? I need a quick solution because I want to do this in 1-1/2 weeks. Thanks!

Can't help you, but Fwiw

I was driving through Salt Lake City on I-15 this spring and spied a Polaris Ranger riding ONTOP of a custom roof rack mounted over the bed AND cab of a Dodge CTD which was pulling a travel trailer. Looks pretty tall & tippy to me . Cleared the overpasses though.

Wish I had my camera handy.

Man, thats pretty nutty!

There is a company that makes an appuratus that winches a 14'-16' aluminum boat and trailer up into the bed and over the top of the cab of the truck so that a travel trailer can be pulled. They have a flat-bed version for hauling ATVs. I wonder if this is what you saw?

put a sheet of 3/4 outdoor plywood down in the bed, just to be sure, screw a 2x6 to the sheet where the wheels will rest and trim to where you need it. I would put a stop block behind the tires and strap down good. one way to do it.

Thats kinda what I was thinking but because the ply would have to hang over the edge a bit I'm not sure how I'd load the cart without the plywood flipping out of the truck! I guess I could anchor it down at the front somehow.

Thumbs up Tilt

Tilt the cart up at the rear of the truck and close the tail gate. This will work if you put the cart in back wards I have dun this, I only had a problem getting the front of the cart up I used a jack then closed the tale gate. PS I now have the back seat on my cart and that no longer works so we Picked up a Toy hauler camper to carry all of the Motorcycles H.D.X 2 , golf cart 4 seater x 1, bicycles x 2 (Toys) Good luck and have good safe trip.

Thanks Miles, but ours will have the back seat also. I'm thinking about having an elevated platform welded together that can be strapped down with the platform extended out far enough to support the cart. With it strapped down I can lay the ramp on the edge of the platform and not worry about it flipping up or out.

I spoke with them today. Atv longbed model was around $2200 shipped.

I informed them that they needed a dealer in my area......It just so happens I have a store front that services fleets that would require such a product.

That is a lot of coin to drop on something I have never laid eyes on.

I've thought about this when I eventually get my Rhino. Get some 2x12's and cut them so both the front and back tires ride on them and then rachet the cart down to the tie downs. That ought to do it.

Love my Diamond Back cover. It is so nice to lock items in the back and also to load whatever on top up to 1200lbs.

That's what I've done so far. The difficult part is anchoring down the front end of the boards while driving the cart up.

I think I have it licked. I bought a couple 2x8's and a 4x8 sheet of 3/4" ply. I screwed the boards to the outside edge of the ply (mostly to provide some stability to the 2x8's while loading, but to also add some strength). I bolted some 1" eye bolts (I guess that's what they're called) to the forward end of the assembly. I plan on running a ratchet strap from the cleats on the side of the bed over the assembly and through the eye bolts. This should hold everything relatively still while getting the cart loaded. Once in the bed I'll strap the cart down at the front and back.

Anyone see a problem with this setup?

We have seen those used many a time. However if it's something your not going to use a lot, instead of spending the 1,100 to buy it, make it outa 4x4 posts and some 2x6's. Problably cost you 100 Bucks but you could make it almost water tight (store stuff under it like a bed cover) and still take it on and off. Just an idea

I though about having something similar made, but I don't need it, nor want it, to sit so high. Width is not a problem, just length.
