G56 6sp Manual Tranny adding Extra Oil??

I was reading online at
http://www.turbodieselregister.com/Index57.pdf
about back issue articles in their magazine.

I came upon a back issue that had an article in issue 53
that suggested adding an extra two quarts of oil to the
NV5600 6sp manual if it was used for heavy towing.
Has anyone ever tried this in a their NV5600 tranny?,,, did
it help?,,,would it be as helpfull in the G56.

I called my dealer service manager about NV5600 failures. He said that if they have lube in them, he did not see any failures. So, I think as long as it is up to the filler hole, I think that should be adequate. I question if adding more fluid may not case other problems.

I don't know if the g56 needs extra lube, but the nv5600 sure does. The TDR mag is right.

I lost mine, with around 145,000 on the clock, a hundred miles west of Omaha on I80, pulling a 3500 lb trailor. I was a thousand miles from home and it was expensive to fix. It was one of the last parts I thought would ever fail. Lubrication was the issue. The fliud was topped to the fill hole and it had never leaked a drop.

Every one of the rebuilders I contacted said the addition of an extra quart of fliud is necessary for the nv5600...sort of an unwritten rule. My advice to owners is to pull the shift tower and add an extra quart or two. I had read these words of warning from others before, and now I wish I had headed them because it would have saved my trans.

I cant remember the post but a dodge tech said that it is not needed with the G56. FWIW...
