Factory Electric Brake Harness - Which Wire Goes Where?
My truck is an '04 3500 with towing package. I need to set it up for electric brakes and could use help with wiring.
In the glove box when I bought the truck was an electric brake harness, a blue 4-way connector that plugs in under the instrument panel to the left of the brake pedal. The harness has 4 wires, a blue thicker wire, a white w/red stripe, a green w/black stripe, and a blue w/white stripe. My question....what wire goes where? I have not bought the electric brake controller yet but have looked at a few and they all seem to have leads for 1) brake 2) stop 3) ground 4) battery. Can anyone offer up some some help on the connections. Any suggestions on which brand electric brake controller is best would be great too. Thanks Steve |
If you get any Tekonsha brand brake controller then go to your local RV dealer or Camping World and pick up the 1 piece pigtail for the Tekonsha brake controllers. It will then only take you about 5 minutes to do the install, all yo will have to do is decide where you want to mount it and plug in both ends without any possible mistake[laugh] :D
If yo check my members picks you can see haow most of us mount it:D |
Get the BRAKESMART
It will cost more, but it's worth it |
If you look closely at the the wire harness, it is marked on the wire what each one is.

I bought the Teknosha Prodigy today with the Dodge specific harness....sounds real simple plug and play.
I looked at the Brakesmart....what a unit! Too costly for the amount of time I spend towing though. Thanks for the replies fellas. |
