Wishin' I did. Tranny went out last Wednesday. If it helps, I think one of Dave Goerend's favorite Allison shops in MN is working on it. You should have heard the crap I got when I got pulled in behind a powersmoke.

When Kole Johnson gets done mollesting the 46RH, I think it'll hold for a long, long time.

I think he'll find a first gen flex plate and a weld nut converter in it. Just replacing those 2 items will add a lot to the reliability. I have a light rap that seems to be coming from #6. Won't surprise me a bit if Kole finds a crack in the flex plate.

Just getting ready to roll out and vacation when she went. After moping for about a half a day, I came to appreciate that it went out at home, instead of out on the road.

Here's hoping the crashing OD didn't damage any critical parts of the transmission. I caught it early. I believe Kole would be tearing it down about now.

Naw, boats an old 88 tracker FS1800. Not bad for a 150 hp boat. 'specially for the price I paid.

I pull my 5'er and my pontoon boat together sometimes. I try to keep the trips like that shorter if I can. I've backed them both together and done fairly well. The second trailer tracks very well on turns. It is odd to have your truck on the road your turning onto all the way and heading in the new direction and look over and see the boat hasn't made the corner yet. I've got a lot of looks. Texas changed their double tow laws. I'm legal as far as overall trailer lengths go, but I'm over on overall truck and trailer limits. I haven't pulled double since those changes. I have read that in Tx, if you don't have a pickup bed, there is no overall length limit, just the 53 foot trailer limit. I hues I can unbolt my bed and leave it home if I ever tow double again.

Where you heading off to? I'm leaving in the morning first to Albuquerque staying overnight probably in a Wal-Mart parking lot then on to Grand Canyon. Stop by Hoover Dam then to Zion National park after that to Meas Verde then to Four Corners, on to Santa Fe to see some Pueblo ruins and the Miraculous Staircase and the Tent Rocks National Monument then finally back home! Round trip of 2,742 miles not including other driving.

Not rolling right now. Tranny's getting overhauled and upgraded.

I have 9 kids, scattered all over, mostly western states. The plan is to go to one of their places, and stay till they buy me enough fuel to get to the next one.

I pull a double also. In Neb it's 65 ft max. In SD it's 70. I'm just a tad over in Neb.https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...1&d=1345365832

I thought I would drop my picture off. This is my second set of doubles. Next time it will just be a toyhauler. Much easier.

Just wondering how heavy that boat and trailer is, I want to drag 7000lbs off the back of my current 5ver but was told by one hitch place that it was too much to tow behind.

Boat's around 2000 lbs fully fueled and loaded with bait and tackle.

7000 is too much to haul behind a fiver. The straight pull isn't the problem, it's the vertical forces developed on uneven road as the hitch is bounding up and down. That could be eliminated by a dolly under the tongue of the second trailer, but it adds to the complexity, and probably would be frowned upon. It also could increase the chance of losing control during braking.

I bet I could break the fiver with the boat if I'm not patient with rough roads.

7000 pounds is very heavy for the frame on the camper. Mine weighs a tad over 3000 pounds and i thought it was heavy. The camper is a little over 8000 pounds.

j martin is right also that they take a beating on the back of the 5ver. Just follow someone and watch and you may never pull yours again. I did add a second axle on mine to reduce tounge weight and added my own home built sway control to keep it straight. It works very well!!!
