diff temp gauge?

Hi all!

Im new to this forum but I have been browsing it since I got my truck and have found all sorts of useful information! I did come up with one question that I cant find the answer to though:

I have a 1997 2500 5 speed that I fairly regularly tow a 20' car trailer with (total weight about 6500lbs) and I was wondering if I need a diff temp gauge for it. Im about to buy a gauge pod and EGT and boost gauges, but I wanted to make sure I didnt need anything else while Im at it. Do I need to moniter my manual trans/diff temps, or are they not going to get high enough to worry about with that weight?

Thanks!

~Leah

Any gauge you install will help you monitor your trucks activities, whether towing or not.. If you install a new trans pan & diff cover you will add to the amount of fluid in each..you will also reduce your temps by approx. 30 degrees in each. Excessive heat in either is bad ,especially when towing.. I don't know for sure, on your year truck, if you will have to install the new pan & cover to put in the gauges, but if you need to, it certainly isn't going to be money wasted...
