Diamondback Truck Cover= Trailer replacement

I thought you guys might like this. There is a truck cover out there, that can haul up to 1600 lbs on top. If anyone has some pics, i would like to see them.

I just saw an ad for those somewhere... Probably next to the ad where the woman doctor with the mullet is selling pheremones...

Anyhow, on the web page they look nice... My GF's parents go ATVing with a bumper pull and a monster hauler ATV rack, which works really well for them.

The diamondback looks handier, in that it comes off in parts, so it doesn't require multiple people or a hoist... On the other hand, looking at the web page it looks like the diamondback puts the weight on the sides of the pickup bed, where the monster hauler spreads the weight across the width of the bed floor.

Anyhow, here's their page.

I've been getting 2000-2500 OTD Depending on options....SWB, LWB, side load, or rear load. List is a little higher.

Sure is nice no having to tow a trailer everywhere and being able to use a regular travel trailer instead of needing a toy hauler.

My generator and air compressor fit under it too so they can be locked up while riding or sleeping.

I'm looking for a travel trailer and wondered how we'd be able to take quads go-karts etc... The toy haulers are a little pricy for my blood. I'll have to look into one of these. What's that thing weigh?

I am not certain of the weight but my guess would be less than 300 lbs. It mounts in 3 sections and each one is easily put in place by one man. All aluminum I notice it is quite a bit lighter than my fiberglass topper by the way my truck rides.

I found out the weight of both the SE and HD covers. The SE cover weighs 75-95 pounds, and the HD cover weighs about 120 to 150 pounds. The covers are made of three different panels, so this is not very heavy at all (75/3= 25 pounds per panel). the two bigger panels i would assume weigh a little more than 25 due to the fact that the center panel is much smaller

On a long bed, the HD cover panels are much heavier than 25lbs ea.

I would guess maybe 75 lbs ea. and the center @ 35 lbs.

ATV rails add more since they are stainless.

I have a challenge to get them on the truck by myself due to height of the truck and size of the panels. I prefer to have help to avoid scratches and dents to the truck.

Not bad considering the carrying capacity.

I have the HD cover black powder coated model and love it. Looks great on the truck and is very useful and secure. I ordered the cover and had it shipped to my company for hundreds less than any local dealers best offers.

The company and contact info is:
Doug Wallem
Sales Associate
Quality Truck & Equipment Co.
drwallem@4qte.com
www.4qte.com

This was my 1st purchase with this company and it went flawless. I did have a problem with the rear cover had the gasket glued on to far from the edge and it was not sealing well against the taiigate. I called and spoke with a support person and they 1st apologized and then offered to send out enough gasket to replace. I replaced the gasket and it has been fine.

I also added black powder coated bed rail covers and full tailgate cover. The bed rail cover is needed to cover the corner post holes that are in the bed.

I am not sure of the weight but I would guess around 300lbs. The covers can be taken on/off by myself but it is some work. The center section is held on by 4 clamps like you would use on a standard cap. The cover then slide onto the center section. The hardest part is getting the center section back where you had it. Before the cover comes of again I am going to drill and install a pin on each side that I can us to put it back on.

I really like the black powder coat cover. It looks really good on your truck. Are these covers popular around where you live? The more I think about them, the cooler I think they are.
