I have a audi a4 sport, it rides pretty low I have not problem loading it on my deck over. I have a GN 14k deckover and would only trade for a bigger on, I will never pull tag again if I don't have to, in my opinion. Also with car trailer your always have to worry about how you are getting out of the car, I always had this problem.

When I purchased my trailer I had a 1/2 ton gasser, so bumper pull was the only good option. I chose the car trailer over the deck over because of the center of gravity and wind resistance issues. The deck is 83" between the fenders, my Bronco is about 81.5" wide. I've never had a problem loading it. I didn't know I'd be getting a diesel later, so stability and lower wind resistance were more important than loading whatever. My 14K rated car trailer has no side rails and can easily load pallets anywhere but where the fenders are. I still prefer the lower deck height. My trailer is primarily for my lifted Bronco, so breakover angle isn't an issue most of the time. I have tried to load some cars on there and sometimes the 5' ramps and 2' dovetail isn't enough to clear the lower ones. A Mercedes E500 clears by a hair with the air suspension raised, our Jetta is a no go without some stacked wood.

If I were buying it again with my diesel in the driveway I'd definitely consider the 5er or GN. The downside of those for me would be the inability for my dad to use it with his Touareg TDI or to tow it with my Bronco when necessary. I would consider overbuying on the trailer. I was looking for a 10K model (15" D rated tires, single center mounted jack, 12" drums) and found that the 14K rated model was $400 more and got me 16" E rated tires, safer jack, and larger drums. I figure the heavier axles and running gear will last longer with a lighter load.
