I use the Putnam but I think they went out of business. They were really nice too, I talked to the tech guy there back in 07 because they only had the part number listed till 06 but it worked anyway as per what he said.
If you don't have a factory hitch it bolts right into place, my truck didn't come with the tow package so I had to wire it up and install a hitch.... Crazy with it being a 2500 Cummins eh?

the stock hitch on my 05 2500 2wd is stout and i haul regularly a 10k big tex 20ft flat bed trailer bumper pull, with a crane that weighs about 10k and actuators that sit atop gas line valves and they weigh anyhere from 500 to 2500 pounds and carry at least two at a time, and im out bouncing and beating on back country roads and hills getting to pipline sites and natural gas compressor sites

So... bringing this back from the dead, since it didn't fit into the budget then, and now I NEED it.
I am looking at the Reese 45299 Class V Titan Receiver But it doesn't look like I will be able to fit my 35" Spare tire with it.
Does anyone have any experience with a Class V that will allow me to remove the stock hitch that will also allow me to keep my 35" spare tire?
Thanks,
Joe Zeppe

I can look at mine tonight, but I don't think you will have any issues. I fit a 33.2" tire with the larger MH cover. I do have to ratchet strap the tire aft, but also had to do that with the OEM hitch.

I have a Reese Titian on my 2011 SB and there is 31 3/4 inches between the hitch and the stock diff cover, not to say you couldn't hoist it up crooked but there's not much room for even the stock 17 inch tire.

I looked at the stock space and it is 34.5" and from the pictures of the hitch on the web, it looks like a 3"difference from the center mounting plate. Your dimension is probably right on for my '06 too. unfortunately.
I have a compressor and I think I will be running a deflated spare tire...
I'll make something work. Thanks,

You'll love the capabilities of the hitch, one thing though I found it difficult to find anything with a decent drop in 2 1/2 inch so for when you do need a lot of drop for something lighter keep a 2inch adapter in the truck then you can always use a 2 inch hitch.
