chevy frame cracks

A friend of mine has a chevy2500hd and asked me to look at his bmper to see why it is sagging on the left side .... so i crawl under it and see a mess.
seems the receaver and bumper are bolted together well the right side of the rear part of the frame is broke off and the hitch is formed out of 10 ga. metal and cracked in 5 places and
the frame at the spare tire is cracked in 4 spots at the pipe just next where it is welded
to the frame, has any one seen this before? should he take it to the dealer its out of warr. he
only tows a 5500 LBS travel trailer . this should be shown to DOT.

DOT could be a bad idea, I mean its a good idea, but if your buddy needs his truck DOT might say tuff luck, if its only the rear end thats cracked, I dont believe much saftey issues are present as long as he doesnt tow

As far as warrenty how far out is he? If not much he may be able to get something done, Chances are if yo uwant something done for warrenty though youll have to get a ton of people with the same problem at early stages, or figure out how early its happening. and go from there, best option is body shop it, Or hope someone rear ends ya
