Tire Monkeys are the only ones ever killed by those things, treat em with respect and they are fine, although I gotta say, outlawing those things was a good idea,as I've tryed to get tires fixed on my old ford truck and switched cause everyone at the tire store got all confused, and I though someone was going to get hurt...so I bought a used one piece wheel...much safer if you don't know what you are doing..not rated for the weight though...

I lost one on the front of a CO4070 (cornbinder) on I85 at 80+ mph. very definately a ride to remember. I got home and have never had a split rim on a truck since.

That is interesting. The Air Force still uses lock ring split wheels on alot of its acft. The ones we use on the F16 are a 14" wheel and we run the tires on them at 330 psi.

These are the real thing, not the fake locks you see going down the road in those big goofy show trucks that never see dirt...
From that website:

For the more demanding deep-pocket crowd, these beadlocks are fully functional aluminum beadlock wheels engineered and manufactured by the same company that supplies the Hummer beadlocks to the US Military. They are fully street legal, DOT compliant solution in 52 states.

O RLY? Impressive... They're approved for states not admitted to the union yet!
