Change oil before or after towing?

Just wanted to get some people's thoughts. I usually only do short 3-4 hour tows with my 10k toy hauler and sometimes I change the oil before the tow and sometimes after the tow, but since it is not hard towing and the trailer is not the heavy, I have not been too concerned. I am doing my first long tow with a steep grade. I am going from Southern California to Mammoth Mountain. I just changed my oil about 3k miles ago (no towing since – just daily driving). I was going to wait until after I got back, but just wanted to get some opinions. My last oil change was with Mobil Delvac with a Mobil 1 oil filter. I also changed the fuel filter at that time. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

The oil analysis I have run, indicates absolutely NO oil issues after a long tow. Just change it when it's normally due. Why waste oil & money if you don't have to? BTW...I change my oil at 7500 miles.

Like others have posted. Just go for it. The tow is easer on the oil and engine than the daily driver.

Thanks everyone! That is what I was hoping to hear. I usually change my oil every 5k-7k miles so I thought it might be a little early, but I like to hear what other people think.

I'm running mine for 7500 or 1 year which ever comes first. I agree the daily stop & go traffic is worse on the truck than the towing. These trucks were made to tow.

I just changed mine after some 6700 miles on the oil with right at 50% of it towing over 10,000 lbs of 5er from 200 ft elevation to over 8500 foot elevation and temps exceeding 100*. I had an OA done on the oil and everything was fine. You can go longer than you have been and have no problems with the oil. Just continue to use quality oil and filters.
