This unit is rated at 68db @ 7 meters. (about 20') When I used it at the camp ground (state park). I put it behind the camper and muffler facing the woods. Wasn't to bad on the other side of the camper, but I would not want to run it if there was some one in a site on the back side. I did a little testing on sound at the house and will be making a three sided box with foam panels to put around it.

I just changed the oil in mine last night and put in SAE 40 and that even quieted it down a bit...

Hey, Alcorr ---

You mentioned covering the generator with a 4" styrofoam box. My question is....do you have to leave some room either at the bottom or the top of the generator to let cool air in or let the exhaust escape? Obviously something has to be done for those reasons. Do you have a photo or some design specs on building such a box? I am sure interested. Thanks for any help you can give me.
