brake fuse

Where is the fuse for my trailer brake control?
I have lost all power to the harness under the dash. All the lights for the truck are fine but no power for the trailer. I looked at the fuse block in the dash and under the hood but did not find one labled for trailer or anything I thought would be likely.
Thanks, jerryb

Re:brake fuse

Jerry,

What year truck? If it is a 2003 with trailer haul option, there is a 40amp under the hood in the fuse block.

Re:brake fuse

I believe all the Gen 2 trucks had them under the hood in the Power Distribution Center as well. My 97 did.

Casey

Re:brake fuse

Sorry about that it's a 2001 Dodge, there are no fuses labled for trailer power or anything likely. The fuses are numbered, anyone know what number fuse powers the trailer harness.

Re:brake fuse

Jerry,

If no 2001'ers answer you, I would suggest looking at your box, pull all 40 amp fuses and test them with an ohm meter. I would assume it is a 40 amp - - my V10 2000 had a 40. Did you look on the bottom side of the lid of the fuse panel? I can't remember if mine was labeled or not - - the 03's are labeled.

Re:brake fuse

I've got an '02, it's listed as #9. It's a 40 amp, as you're looking at the fuse block from the drivers side of the truck, go to the top left hand. There are 2 rows of 6 of those rectangle shaped fuses. The one listed as "trailer" on mine is in the second row, 2nd one down from the top. Hope that helps

Re:brake fuse

I did the same thing last time I towed. It's under the hood, a 40 amp, I thought mine was labled "trailer" It's the 3rd or 4th fuse on the right side (facing the cummings). Hope this helps...
Big dawg

Re:brake fuse

I must have had a bad day, I looked again this morning and it was right there, labeled and everything, I threw those glass's away. I think what blew the fuse was using a Chev 7 wire to 4 wire adapter last week when I was in a hurry.
Thanks for the help, jerryb
