Brake Control question
.......Not everyone has a solid grasp on wiring and what may seem simple to you, is mud to some one else.....That is the reason this forum is here, to SHARE knowledge and help a brother out...NOT to insult because you may know something another doesn't.
Depending on which way you're calling o'clocks, 5 and 7 may be reversed, which may only matter if the brake ground is on the frame. Hopefully, you'll find this link helpful.

...and I just realized I'm a moron because I wasn't reversing my point of view on the trailer side.
Green and Brown are reversed, which makes me wonder how in the world my lights could be working properly? But that still doesn't solve the brake issue unless it's confusing my controller and for some reason it isn't showing a fail code.

Whomever wired this trailer was an (comment not allowed).
I corrected the green and brown wires and all heck broke loose, so I switched it back so at least the lights work. I'll leave it up to B-I-L to correct the brake issue. There is no junction box where wires may be incorrectly wired.

Over the years I have seen half a dozen "official" wiring diagrams for trailer wiring. The link to E-trailers is the correct universal wiring. I just ran into this with a camper I bought, since the camper and truck were wired together it worked. The problem was it would not work with any correctly wired trailer. The easiest way to do yours is to disconnect all of the wires on the trailer, verify your truck is correct according to the E-trailer diagram and then wire the trailer correctly. If you are not sure if the traler wires are right at the ends here is a trick I use. Find the ground wire on the trailer, should be white and grounded to the trailer close to the hitch. All of the other wires are lights or brakes. You will need two jumper cables, attach one from trailer ground to truck ground. Then attach the other jumper to the tail light terminal in the trailer socket on the truck. Turn on the parking lights. Take the other end of that jumper and touch it to each terminal except the white ground. Have someone tell you what lights light up with each touch. Bright left is left turn, all lights are the tail lights and bright right is right turn. Note the colors of the wires and wire them according to the chart. The reason I use the parking lights for this procedure is because the light switch has a built in breaker. If you short something out you will not be blowing fuses. The breaker will trip and then reset itself.
