The Dodge V-10 is quite the beast... in '98, when I bought mine - it had more HP & torque than the mighty Cummins did!

It consistently gave 11mpg city/12mpg highway (10K# service truck), but when I bombed it a "little bit" it was good for 12mpg city/14mpg highway.

Pretty durable too - 250K miles and it blows less smoke than my '05 did on the dealer's test-drive!

In my opinion, 7500 lbs. isn't much weight for either of the trucks to handle. Now hook 20,000 lbs. on each of them and I'm sure the Cummins WOULD run away from that 8.1L.

It does seem like mine is a little faster every time I drive it.So maybe its still breaking in since I only have 4,300 miles on it.

That would be in 6th gear, I have never had to drop a gear with that weight behind me. My truck currently has 15,000 miles on it, but I starting towing with about 1700 miles.

I had 7000#'s on mine coming up Mt Eagle mountain from Chattanooga and had it in 4th gear, 60mph. Truck, trailer and load just shy of 18K. I could have gone faster, but my egt's would climb past 1200, plus my VP44 was giving me the death code. Did not get passed by any loaded furds or cheby's. It was a 6% grade I believe. Oh yeah, it's only an 02', when I did accelerate it had no problem jerkin' that load up the mountain and I did have it up close to 70. I think the speed limit there is 55mph anyhow. Enjoy it!! You have the might Cummins!!
