Diesel Drag Racing at Cherokee Dragway

I just wanted to tell everyone in the area about our local TDR chapter's diesel drag racing day at Cherokee Dragway in Rogersville, TN. We are located in Hawkins County in East Tennessee. The date is June 28th.

Gates open at 3:30
Time trials begin at 5:30
Racing starts at 7:00
$20.00 per entrant
$10.00 per spectator

Rules are simple. Run what you brung as long as it's diesel powered. The racing will be heads up on a pro tree.

Hope to see some of you guys there! If anyone needs directions, just let me know.

Thanks, ERIC

That sucks. Hope to see you next time. We do a lot of different events. You are more than welcome to come to any of them if you would like. Also, I believe I know where that boat dock is where you have some of your pics. I have done some bass fishing there myself.

Well, we got rained out after the first round of time trials. So, the rain date is this coming Saturday, July 5th. We had a great turnout with over twenty trucks. The fastest time ran was an '06 Dodge quad cab 4x4 that put down an 8.60. Most of us where just doing time trials, but a lot where going to go ahead and run in the Diesel shootout. I am hoping to have another good turnout this coming weekend, so everyone is still welcome to come out and have some fun.

a buddy of mine took his silver 03 reg.cab 4x4 built by MCN Diesel to see what it would do, but after 2 passes trying to get the hang of the truck they turned it into a bracket race so he did not get to see what it would do all out ***** to the wall, so he dialed in a 8.0 and was letting out the last couple hundred feet and on the brake so he would not break out. there is no doubt in my mind that it is a 7.50 truck or faster. And on the last pass of the night he broke a output shaft but still won the event. So i guess we'll have to wait until he gets a chance to back to the track to see what that beast will do.

It would be great that at a diesel racing event in the future they would do like the NC chapter and have a manual transmission class and an auto class. Us handshakers have a hard time running with an auto, especially in the 1/8th. I may still try to make it to this one. Tac

I know exactly what you mean. Drag racing a manual against an auto at the drag strip is basicly stupid. I like the idea of splitting the class. Since this is something new the track is working on, maybe a manual and auto class can be a very good posiblity in the future. I would guess it also depends on how big of a field we have.

Hope to see you there. I will probably just do some time trials. I can't be consistant enough to get into the gamblers race.
