i wonder how good it runs with that supercharger on it. and i wonder when the supercharger cuts out i guess when the turbo starts to build boost maybe around like 20 psi??

I think it would run fine. It should operate just like the small turbo on a twins setup. once the big turbo in compounds or the single turbo in this application lights the smaller charger or supercharger in this case only has to move the already compressed air. there may be a little restriction but that can be overcome by a bigger turbo since you already have air on the low end. I'd love to see that setup run.

Wow, that is cool. He has the big pulley on the charger so the charger should boost quick and the turbo should finish.

Boy, I need a better job so I can play with the cool toys...

How good it runs depend on if the air can bypass the blower once the turbo builds more boost than the blower can suck. No bypass and the turbo boost just hits a brick wall when it gets to the blower.

not so much, all the blower has to do is move the volume to supply the engine with air that is already compressed. say the turbo is making 60lbs of boost, the supercharger doesnt have to compress the air again, just move it along. being that the supercharger speed is sequential with the rpms, that should be no problem.

Being a Whipple blower, which is a screw compressor, not a roots style, it would hardly need a turbo at all, to give these things all the air they would ever need.

Set up properly, it gives you instant boost off idle, being mechanically driven, and the boost pressures increase with RPM, to your relief limit.

The possibilities are there, and I'd like to see one in action, just for fun.

I'm on this theory... for example.. Turbo creates 50 psi boost.. Blower can only make 20... and blower is mechanically crank driven.. no way that blower can make 50 psi at any speed.. something has to give... Blowers can't make the pressures that turbo's can, 15 psi for a blower is alot and Whipples website shows a max of 30psi for there chargers..

Ok im gonna try and throw logic into this. A whipple supercharger makes a max of 30psi or whatever, so it takes 0 psi of pressure (atmospheric pressure) and COMPRESSES IT to 30psi. 0 psi at the inlet, 30psi at the outlet: an increase of 30psi. If a turbo is providing 60psi of boost at the inlet and the supercharger and the supercharger can only add 5-10 psi because it is harder to compress already compressed air you will have a net of 65 - 70 psi. even if the supercharger was unable to add any more pressure and it was simply moving the air along (it is still spinning faster as rpms go up, right?) it would still be 60 psi of boost. a supercharger would never be a hinderance to air flow unless it spun slower as rpms increase which defies the belt drive connected to the crankshaft. my point is, the blower is not MAKING 60 psi because air is pressurized before the air even reaches the blower. am i making sense?

If the blower is a screw type, then its a matter of compression ratio. If it can do the volume and provide a ratio of 3.06 as it does from 0 psig to 30 Psig, then if theory holds the end pressure of 30 psi input would be 110 ish. But the VE of the compressor drops with inlet pressure , so maybe only 90 psig. EIther way a screw compressor is a mean machine.
