Sponsor Forums

Guys, I plan on putting up a section for our forum sponsors. This section will include sub-forums for each supporting vendor of DTR. It's going to be a place that will allow you to post questions about a product to a particular vendor, or to post a review about their product. We're going to open this up a little bit. Even if your review is negative, we will leave it but we ask that you always remain respectful in posting such reviews. And remember to do your homework before you do so. Don't do it when emotion has the best of you.

Anyway, our sponsors will be able to post info about new products, answer questions and post technical information as well as specials.

I'm going to start on this today, but i'd like to hear your feedback as well. I don't want this place to turn into a flea market but I think it'll be a good thing if we do it the right way. Thoughts?

I think its a good idea as long as (like you said) both positive and negative (both respectful, of course) feedback is allowed. The biggest plus I can see to this is it may answer a lot of questions that end up being repeat threads on the forums... people can look to these sections for information on products they are interested instead of making 5 "will X product work with Y truck" threads in every area of the forum.

Thanks for the comments and feedback. I agree. I'm in the process of adding them now. It'll take me some time to do it, but it's been started. I also changed the order of the forums a bit. I want the real truck info to be up top. The general areas and the site areas can go to the bottom.

I think it is a great idea. Often people, including myself, are not aware just how many products are actually vendors right here. I will support a DTR vendor before I buy anywhere else as long as I know who the vendor is!

I think this is great idea, I always have questions being that Im somewhat new, at the same time feel dumb for asking usually. That said everyone should play by the 24 hour before posting. Write your post, wait 24 hours reread and see what you would post(ables mostly to negative posts)

Sounds like a great idea to me as long as the flame wars are kept under control. Thanks for all the hard work you do to keep this site going and a good place for all.

All great feedback and I agree about watching the flame wars. We had a lot of that back in 2002 / 2003 but they have since calmed down a lot. Thank goodness!!!

i trust you Jack, you have seemed to do pretty well so far. I think it will take time to get used to, but I suspect that you will have to keep pretty tight reigns on it. Kinda like you have to do with the political section.

I for one welcome it, I darn sure have a lot of questions, and very few answers. It would be really cool if the categories were by system ( fuel, powertrain, etc) then by manufacturer then by product. It would make searching and navigation easy.

I am excited to see what you guys come up with!

That's a pretty good idea right there. Once I get this project going, I'll throw that up on the test site and see how it looks. If it looks decent, I'll move it over here and see what you guys think.

I agree with everyone else, it's a good idea and now that you've presented it, I wonder why it took so long. Seems like the vendor's might have suggested it a long time ago! Can't wait to see it.

It's up and running now. We are adding more and more sponsors but I've got a lot of things going on so it'll take me a couple weeks to get them all up there. In addition, you CAN ask for price quotes on a sponsor forum. I just ask that the sponsors reply via private message.

Hey Jack,

Food for thought in the sponsor area. How bout a general question area in the sponsor forum so all the sponsors could reply to a situation or upgrade with a product suggestion. Or let us know if their product was not best suited for our intended purpose.

I was just thinking of tuners or chips. In a general area I could post up a question or what I am looking for and all the sponsors who had a product that fit my needs could post up with their products or suggestions of products that may suit my specific needs better.

Then we could go to the appropriate forum and look up or ask specifics.

It might provide them with some pretty valuable insight into which direction their market is moving and how to adjust their product (if need be) to suit their customers, or help them identify portions of the market which are not being served and why. Invaluable information could be available without a great deal of data analysis.

Just a thought. I am absolutely not saying it is no good the way it is. May want to put up a couple small red boxes though...

I just tried to look at the sponsor forum, It had so many pop-ups I had to try to back my way out, but they were popping up so fast I had to leave the site and start over. If I increase the pop-up manager I can't follow any links.
