Question "Preview" feature

Some people use some pretty generic terms as titles of their threads, how bout using the 'preview' feature so when you put your cursor over the title you get a preview of the first few lines of his post so you can tell what the thread is about?
Other forums have it, a big help I think, will probly reduce the number of people who look at a thread without posting to it too.

Also known as Mouse-Over.
We have discussed that subject several times in the forums.
Some like it.
Some hate it.

The site owners prefer not to enable that option.

Some members have been there .... Done that.

DTR forums will not be using the Mouse-Over feature.

I agree, I AM on FB but I don't see the purpose of that link (maybe the young members pushed for it?), at least the mouse over serves a purpose.

Exactly, or take a hike if you want to whine like a little girl... I don't mind constructive feedback but I can't stand a whiner...

...and trust me, running this site for the last 10 years has been a hell of a lot more than 25k. It's people like you as to why this site is for sale in the first place. I'm sick of dealing with whiners with some sort of sense of entitlement on a FREE site. A huge reason this site is free is because Lary and I have spent thousands out of pocket to make it that way. If you don't like it, get out. Go. Leave. For those who have given constructive feedback, THAT is always appreciated, even if we don't always see eye to eye on an issue.

Okay, I'm not sure if your comments are directed at me or not, but I thought this was the section for making suggestions or comments and discussing them like adults and I was only asking a simple question for a feature I find handy on many other forums I go to. I don't see anything other than constructive criticism above, nothing I would call whining for sure, and I don't see the point of calling a member a whiner just cuz their opinion is different from the people that run the site.

I haven't been here much lately this summer, I didn't even know this site was for sale and it looks like you're running out of patience with running it. I hope someone takes over and keeps it going, this was the first diesel forum I signed up on 2 years before even buying my first diesel, I've learned a lot form fellow members, I would hate to see it go under.

Fisherguy, my comment is NOT directed toward you. You've been very respectful in your questions and suggestions. It was directed toward Purplezr2.

Here's some example of some of the thread titles I was talking aboutr:

"hello, HELP"

"Stock Clutch"

"hope you can help"

"Help me out please!!"

"Guess what?"

"See dealer?"

"Newbie question"

"Suggestions????"

etc, etc

Sure would be nice to be able to tell what they're talking about without going into the thread...

(Okay, I'm done with this now)

Glad to hear it

You think that is annoying, try working on a forum like this 14 to 16 hours a day and having to put up with a stupid box that keeps opening up in your way all the time........

It is a minor annoyance for you and a MAJOR PIA for me......so guess which way we are going to go with it?
