Post numbers?

Just to wade in.. For me I look at the join date if I was interested in who is talking in the post. Post count doesn't really matter to me either, I know who I trust and don't on the site, so the extra stats don't really matter.
Infidel definitely has a relevance-to-posting ratio of 1:1.

I don't look at post count either when it comes to putting stock in someones knowledge. If a Cummins mechanic just joined yesterday but had been doing the job for 20 years, would you trust his thoughts on something? I just watch the forum and those who seem like they're full of it usually are regardless of join date or post count. Also those who argue over stupid things and like to start stuff on here carry no weight in their answers as far as I'm concerned.

I guess the post count doesn't matter to me much apparently, I didn't notice until this morning that there wasn't as high a post count for some members as there was. Post count is only useful to see who has been strongly active with the site. (Also kind of the site historians I guess you might say)
If you take off the post count period, then could you also remove the one minute waiting period between posts?

Personally I look at post count. More for answering a question than for quality of others answers!
Is often an indicator of time spent reading the DTR and therefore a possible indicator of knowledge digested. Certainly not a foolproof indicator but often helpful.

I agree. I know I tend to do this myself, whether right or wrong. Senior members seem to have more credibility sometimes, or perceived credibility anyway. One possible solution would be to eliminate post counts, and have titles like "new member", "senior member", etc.

Hmm - we could roll with that - but who gets to choose the monikers?
