Indeed, but kings can be overthrown if found to be not worth their while.
I think this site provides a fine resource and would miss not having it.
I think, though, that its mis-handling could cause the loss of valuable members.

I am merely interested in invoking a provocative discussion that I see as usefull. I do [Haulin in Dixie]have a life, and part of it is the interest in these topics.
Mike:
You make a good point in that this issue should be held in private conversation: it is between him and me. I disagree in that it doesn't just involve me, but many others. Perhaps he needs to hear what folks think.

Yes, here is your email to me.

Mr. Thorp: Thank you for un-muting me.
In reflecting over all this, yes, this is "Much ado about nothing" when it comes to the pictures. It was simply the dry venue of emails that sparked my ire -- in these, I could not talk in person with Mr. Thorp and, as I see now, overreacted.
As I read back, it may be that Mr. Thorp was simply fed-up with many, many people posting things way out-of-line, and I was the "last straw."
Obviously, Mr. Thorp is held in high regard by others, and, perhaps, I am indeed out-of-line.
Please accept my appologies for all the trouble. I do hope, however, I have opened up food for thought.
Sincerely,
doug dillner

...and the fact that your technical explanation was completely wrong. As I said before, those avatars are on my server except for very few of them, and they eat up the bandwidth I pay for.
Why get angry when you don't have the facts? At least have an understanding of what you're talking about next time.
Not necessarily. I wasn't fed up with anything, and I wasn't angry. The simple fact is that avatars take up bandwidth, and the big ones people were posting were causing delays for our users. Had you done your research, you would have known that I had done this once before but brought them back when I upgraded the server last year. Well, 5000 members later, the server is getting overloaded again.
Accepted, feel free to use our site as you wish, but I think you've dug yourself a little bit of a hole here. Not with me, but with the members, whom I respect and appreciate greatly.

I suppose of you feel the need to address someone on a public forum, you should have your facts straight. I don't know maybe make sure you spell their name correctly. I mean it has only been posted a few thousand times here.
I think you're doing a darn fine job Mr. Thorp(e)
Cole
P.S. What IS an Avatar?

No doubt - this is an important point.....
Pickle, It's not my intention to rip a strip off you or condem you for doing wrong....but you gotta admit, Jack must be a pretty decent guy since he let you back onto his site (I'd dare even say that it showed a lot of Professionalism).
Lets get back the diesel stuff.....

Man, I went out to have a few beers last night, and look what I missed!
Jack, I'm with you. I'm sure running this site is a major PIA sometimes; all I can say is keep up the good work.

so who makes the best oil and oil filter?
