Would it be possible to add location to the member list and search function of the list? Intent being to be able to search the members list by state.

This function would have to assume that members put in their actual location and not some off the wall place like some have.

The frapper map is ok, but it would be nice to be able to pull up a list of members in a specific region or state

Well if they listed say " in a van by the river", they just wouldnt show in a search result for anything else right?

This is like anything else on the internet. I'm not totally afraid of posting pics of my house, garage, truck & mods, etc., but to a certain extent having a huge list of names and addresses would be a virtual buffet for an "evil do'er (my Bush quote for the day) to rip us off.

Like I said, I'm not a nervous Nelly about it all that much. I'd just hate to find out that we all voluntarily offered our address and phone numbers to someone with ill intentions.

I don't care, (yet), it's not like my SSN is not plastered all over the world with me being in the Marine Corps. I think an earlier suggestion was to only let members have access to this list, but anyone could join and get the info, then POOF!!! Gone w/o a trace. How about a section titled "Going on a trip", and have the person list where they were going, and what route they were taking. Then, members could chime in as to where they were, and how they could help out.

I think it's a really good idea, for the DTR family, but there are a lot of liaibilitys too. (buddy, I jacked the spelling of that one up! Stupid Drill Instructors!!!) We'll keep beating this one to death, maybe we'll figure something out...

I wasnt thinking name address, telephone number etc. but most of us have city, state or just state in our profiles anyways.. thats all I meant..city, state......i.e. Rising Sun MD and Carbondale KS, Beufort SC, inf op we already are putting out there.

It can be done, but again, adding another search item adds to the resources sucked up from the server.

I think a better idea is adding the location info to the member list, then making it a column that can be listed alphabetically.

Yeah, like an excel doc or something that you can adjust the way that it is sorted. User name, city, state.
