Has this site died?

Very little activity here. this used to be a very busy place.

Fordzilla Jan 8, 2023 07:12 AM

You're not the first to notice...I've started several threads asking questions about my truck, looking for opinions...All I hear are crickets...Why are we here?...More to the point, are we here at all?......Ben

I used to come here every day when it was Dodge diesel.org, then it got sold and all i got was pop up ads and ads everywhere. and i lost a lot of post somehow, anyway i stopped coming here cause of the ads.

It's not bad now, i have one at the top and one at the bottom, they used to be everywhere. was highly annoying. i can deal with what is shown now.

Something has changed on this site. As stated, it used to be a very busy place. The 'other' section used to be a fun place with members daily poking fun at one another. When someone asked for help and help was offered, the OP came back with thanks and said what they did to rectify the problem. These days the newbies ask for help and then vanish, never to be heard from again. So what can be done to restore this place to some semblance of it's former splendor? Is it restorable?

Yeah i can see from the lack of activity here, this might not be the place to ask a question and expect an answer. sad too.

I remember that this place was hopping.

I also remember when we had some instigators who caused trouble then got banned (not me, I'm referencing).

I also remember that Fakebook created a bunch of 1st gen groups doing the same thing, and everyone went there. I hate FB, BTW, but that's just me. I joined for a short while, but the negativity was overwhelming.

This place died several years ago, and because of the lack of participation, most of us just stopped coming here. Ollie convinced me to come and look around, but most of the faces are gone except for a few diehards. I loved the comradery, the always available to help another, and the moderate goofing around, but as we know, all things must change over time, and life goes on.

It's not just this forum, I think all forums have had a pretty sharp decline in participation.

There are specialty forums that are still doing reasonably well.

A hunting forum, a two way radio forum, a Suzuki Samurai forum...

I'm not sure where everyone fled to, the "problem" with wherever they went is the information they are sharing is not searchable....

I'm not seeing any ads.... Maybe i got the right browser/blocker.

I can't do the Facebook truck groups. It's the same tiring questions; and no decent ability to reference prior FB conversations.

I use AdBlock and Adblock Plus simultaneously...I never see any ads whatsoever...There are news sites which will not allow me to view their opinions, so I go elsewhere...I use Google News as an aggregator, they allow me to block any site which does not let me in with an ad blocker...I figure I'm already paying for internet anyway, so why should I be forced to see ads for something I'm not going to buy?...YouTube is certainly much friendlier without all the annoying ads...I even get to watch the old movies there ad-free...[coffee]...Ben

Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, Rawhide, Cheyene, Have gun will travel, Wanted dead or alive.

Yup. Every day, it's pretty much the only shows I watch if I'm not out in the shop, working on some turd I own, or trying to stay out of pain in the gym.

I haven't watched anything mainstream in for what I cannot remember. From what I hear, Ollie hasn't owned a TV in more than any of us, I'm sure. He's the winner, here. Lol

BTW,

Joe Brandon want to make your gas stove illegal, but his wife will still be okay to cook with it.

I know personally I asked some questions got answers, life got in the way and I still haven't finished my project four years later and have a very slow road map to completion. That's just me. A lot has happened to the world especially in the last few years, there's also been quite the cultural change since forums have been popular. A lot of people still come to the various forums when they run into a serious problem because the answers have been archived here for essentially forever. I'm appreciative of what the OGs have done for the rest of us lurkers, I don't see a revival coming though.

Thanks yall.

Life does that, get in the way I mean. Health issues, job issues, owning your own home issues, putting everyone else's needs before my own issues. As far as asking questions, I've given up on that. I attribute a lack of response due to the fact that I drive relics that are no longer supported and forgotten, and that I live in a 3rd world state. As far as the "other" section, I haven't much to say other than a weather or earthquake report.

NJTman Feb 1, 2023 10:14 AM

Glad you made it through the Plan-demic, there Cougar. Seeing old names come up here is almost as fun as going to the store today, and seeing people in masks and social distancing was (and apparently will continue forever) and has been for the last 3 years. I've decided to go out and buy a couple dozen binky's for these folks in the food stores. Figure, If it's good for this clown in Oklahoma to use while carjacking people, then it should be good for the crazies here in new Joisey using 3 year old black mold covered masks who's mental stability requires them to go about their daily lives with a pacifier.

Update: ‘The Binky Bandit’ arrested on robbery charges | KFOR.com Oklahoma City
