could we use a "dead head" forum?

several of my friends have diesels, and we all have car trailers,

and we are always toting something somewhere & coming back empty.
or going empty & coming back full

i came home empty from Atlanta last weekend

i got me 4 tires this weekend, buddy was coming from Raliegh, had him stop by & pick them up, saved me $100.

Thumbs up

Great idea!!

I travel from Calgary, Alberta to Chilliwack/Abbotsford, B.C. on a fairly regular basis as well as Calgary to Edmonton and I'm usually empty one way or the other.

Call it the DTR Express!

I have a trucking company here in Alabama, if anyone is this way and needs anything(we run hot shots too) hit me up, I can broker you something

Aren't there already websites dedicated to that?

If there aren't, somebody needs to design a website just for that purpose... You'd probably need more of a database program than a web-forum to work really well.

Nah, i would not tote stuff for just anyone, most folks on here are pretty trustworthy,
if not, i may have lost $175 last month....i need to e-mail that guy..

anyways, just something to help each other out, like i need to get a set of tires/rims down I-95 to Gainesville, give a fella $20, maybe buy him a burger,

guy at other end gives him $20, he's got a few dollars,

everyone gets a deal.

i might run loaded to Atlanta and back to charleston empty again this weekend.

I think it's a great idea - there's been plenty of times I wished I wasn't hauling empty coming home, or occasionally leaving home.
Especially since we'd be helping out our buds... like 04CTD said - everyone would come out ahead!

Here I thought this was going to be a music thread.

Good idea to offer "dead head" trailer space. Might be easiest to just start a thread in the OTHER forum and keep adding to it like we do with the HUMOR thread. Obviously, DTR can't be held responsible for any transactions between individuals.

That is a good idea, if you are just offering in the Other forum it would be just two guys working out a deal, hard for DTR to be held accountable for anything.

I am by no means an attorney but it would seem to me that setting up a database for that or a forum for that could open up a can of legal worms for Jack

Good idea, I like the idea too, but it would certainly have to be able to be an agreement between two individuals and not DTR responsible for anything....

Who says that you have to exchange money?

What's wrong with hauling a set of tires or something for someone from point A to point B?

I have relatives about 10 minutes from PDR over in British Columbia. If someone here in Alberta needs a turbo or whatever picked up, big deal, throw it in the truck and haul it back. I'm there anyways, saves someone some freight on this end.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that was the point of this thread. I'm not intersted in hauling someones entire household belongings to someplace I'm not interested in going to. But if it's on the way to where I'm going or back and I have the room, sure I'll haul your transmission or set of tires or whatever. I'm always picking stuff up at BD Power or PDR or street rod parts for buddies. As long as it's paid for and pick up is arranged, who cares, doesn't bother me.

All the other boards have the same kind of thing and it works great.

It's just a way of one DTR member helping another save a couple of bucks.

Not sure where you guys were taking this but now your talking lawyers and "legal can of worms" for something so simple.

i am a member of another forum and we have the **** express established over there. It's pretty much just buddies helping buddies, not a business setup at all. Sometimes the express takes my item to 5 different places before its close enough for me to pick up. It's an offroading community so offroad events are great places for us to "meet up." The classifieds section in that forum is a "reply post" as well, so its easier to setup transportation. just my $0.02

I have and will continue to help my buds in DTR out in any way I can. I have toted a few things for a couple of DTR members in the past for as few as 2 12 packs just because I was there and Dead headed back.

It made everyone happy and I was glad to help out!!

I didnt say there was anything wrong with doing that, I would do that myself..... I just think to make it a formal database seems like it might be crossing into a grey area....... the big ugly thread in the other forum sounds like a workable idea.... interesting to see what the admins say of this......

The reason that I mentioned liability to DTR was primarily in the instance where member A sells to member B and it is supposed to be delivered by member C - If member C never delivers, members A & B have to deal with it - don't drag DTR into it (ie- try to get Jack to track down their info) because member C was found on DTR's site. Bottom line, most people on the site are trustworthy but you best know who you are dealing with before you hand something off to them.
