The End of an Era but the Beginning of a New Age

I should probably leave this alone, but I can't help myself.
Then if you don't care, why do you continue to carry on about it?
You mention all the time you've put into tech articles and the like, and I can imagine that took some research and time, but have they also been deleted from your own site? If not, then what does it matter? You still have them and I'm sure that for the people that care about such things, they are still accessible to them.
Who the heck cares? It's free. No one pays anything except the advertisers, and there's very few of them to begin with. A lot of the other forums have advertising on each page, in each thread and in between almost every other response. Even if this site were like that, it's still FREE TO THE USERS. No one is forcing you to come here, advertising or not.
Polaraco; how do you figure we lost the 'personal touch'? Both Lary and Jack have responded to this thread and do so often. They have always done this when they were the site owners and continue to do so even after they have sold their site. The new owners of this site are on here frequently, multiple times a day. While they haven't engaged in active conversation yet, they have had an active presence here and are still setting things up on their equipment, testing things, getting opinions from their admins and asking, ASKING ASKING questions! What more could we ask for? And while I like all these guys, I'm not sure I'd WANT it to be any more personal!

Here's one from my heart..
Thanks to ALL of you members that have spent so much of your time making this place what it has become... a wealth of information that continues to grow. Without you, none of this would have been possible.

There you go. Exactly what I'm talking about. I never worked for, was affiliated with or cared who bought anything from a business perspective. I'm in the aerospace business and never was associated with diesel shops, stores ever. The links were on my personal, non business related web space, only as reference for the how-to articles I wrote to help others. There were no links in my signature to any advertisers. By the way, how many links deep do the rules allow before a link to an advertiser breaks the rules? In other words, if you click on the link in my signature and it takes you to a how-to article on my web space, then there is a link there that takes you to another folder that has a link that goes to another site that has a link to a product manufacturer.... does that break the rules?
It ain't rocket science, if you've got something to say, say it.
So does that mean we can all move on now?

Nothing against you as I'm sure you're a fine person but I've always thought that the folks who take advantage of the wealth of information on this FREE site and then go back and block all of the ads or disregard using the store when they make a purchase are just pulling money out of the pockets of the site owner. What I mean by this is that Lary and I never intended to be millionaires on this site. We wanted enough to pay the bills. Users who do this kind of thing take the info but help us do neither. I've always thought of it as a bit selfish but hey it takes all kinds to make a world, right?

Had me hook, line, and sinker
Lary is very far.. Probably should have banned me over my 'cat post'. The Hat would've dropped the hammer long ago and rightfully so. JohnP would've locked it and smacked'em twice with the hammer. again, rightfully so.
Oh and Chaikwa, with you around theres always gonna be whining and crying.

well, read through the first 4 pages of this thread and got a head-ache!!
Jack and Larry, thank you both immensley for creating this site, I have learned enough here to be, well ... "dangerous"? to my truck!
this has been one of the only forum style sites that I have never worried about refering people to, or wondered what the kids might read on it, as well as the source of many good friendships and fun. Well done to you both and enjoy the extra time that you will now have. You have certainly earned my respect and gratittude.
Robb, welcome aboard! Although I apear to be a few months behind the times, I hope you dont let the crazies( Chaikwa and Hat to mention just a couple) get to you too quickly!

Don't know how I missed this post. Thanks for this great site. 100 times better than TDR without the hazzel of them asking for dues 7 months before they are due.
Been here ever since I told them goodbye in 2002.
Take Care

I haven't been on long but I want to throw a thanks in for all the hard work you guys do. I know what goes in to running a site like this and it is not just something that you do in your spare time. It takes A LOT of work to keep running and under control. So a big thanks to all the admins and sorry to see you go.
