Will the 6.7 flexplate bolt to a 5.9? I heard they were alot stouter & only $120 from the dealership. TIA

 

I called and was talking with Dusty at HTS today and he said he had not gotten one in to look at yet. I am also curious if they will bolt on....

 

I know some of the 2nd Gen. guys have done it. Is it still the same crank? I think that would be the main factor. My dealer has the 6.7L for $171 & the puny 5.9L for $460!!!

 

if you have it out, you might as well put in a stronger sfi approved one.

 

Dealership rebuilt tranny 10K mi ago, under warranty, & didn't lock-tite TC bolts. Needless to say they came loose & did some damage. Now they are gonna repair a few things free of charge so I was gonna have them use a 6.7L if it will fit. Otherwise, I'd be going w/the black BD flexplate. Anyone w/a for sure answer on the fitment?

 

I called the dealership & of course they have no idea if they are interchangable. How could I go about getting an answer to this ASAP?

 

Compare the two parts side by side. Take some measurements.

 

Problem w/that is I don't have either part in hand & neither does the dealership.

 

They shouldn't be special order - anything the dealer doesn't stock usually shows up first thing next morning... have them get both & compare at the counter if you know what you're looking for.

 

Since it's on their dime, I doubt they would be game.

 

Mechanic @ dealership said it's a direct fit & if it's messed up they will put the 6.7L flexplate on there!

 

How much thicker or "stouter" are the 6.7 plates?

 

He said about 3 times more durable & about .085" thick. They don't have all of the cut-outs that the 5.9 has. Here's a pic of one.

We have a stock one and ours here to do some testing with. We have it mounted to the back of the motor out of a truck so measuring should be easy. I will let you guys know as soon as I have the measurements.

 

Well after some research and measuring it turns out that the 6.7 uses a different bolt than the 5.9 version. Now the center portion of it isn't exactly the same which can allow the torque converter to not be centered which can cause a vibration that would take out the pump on the transmission.
