I don't buy what your drive line shop told you. If there is no physical damage that you can see, it will be fine. Do you have a lift kit? That changes the dynamics some and can be compensated for.

Check the drive adapter on the transfer case....

Check the drive adapter on the transfer case. They are prone to failure. Also check the wiring. I recently had to bypass mine from the VSS to the firewall.
