I have not been able to find a steering shaft u joint, but replacement shafts can be reasonably priced. Just make sure you lock the steering wheel while changing, keep everything lined up.

Ditto on reusing them. You can swap the original bolts out with studs one at a time without pulling the head, following the torque sequence. I have a set that will be going in that way very soon.

5 speed is cheaper to replace/rebuild, 6 speed has a better spread for towing heavy. I have over 100k on a used 5 speed swapped into my truck, I replaced shaft bearings when installed and it is fine....
