will this wheel/tire combo work well?

I am looking at the Weld EVO 457 Renegade XT 17 X 10. The backspace is 4.5" and the offset is -25mm. I don't want them to look like they are stuck out by a rediculous amount. I plan on putting on fender flares, but I still want the tires to look pretty much tucked in. I have a leveling kit so I plan on getting 35 X 12.5 BFG MTs with them. Do you think this is right for a 96 SRW Ram. BTW I have a friend with a set of wheels and tires that I like the looks of as far as how they tuck into the fenders. He has 35 X 12.5 tires, but his rims are 17 X 9 with 4.5" of backspace and -12mm of offset. Opinions? Here is a picture of the wheel. Renegade XT

10 inch rim with 4.5 inch backspacing will stick out about 2 inches and change.

I had to get the widest flares available to cover my tires.

If your friends got 17x9s with the same backspacing, that extra inch on the wheel you want is tacked on to the outside. So look at your friends and see if you could live with tires that stick out an inch more than his.

The wheel I am looking at has 13mm more of negative offset compared to his. I do understand what you mean about the extra inch on the outside though. Does that extra amount of offset make a big difference in how it will fit. What do you think about putting that tire on an 8.5" rim. That will help it tuck better. Will the tire look better on the 10 or the 8.5?

I ran 16x10" rims with 4.5" back spacing on a 2" leveling kit and that was probably the dumbest thing I've ever done with my truck. The tires actually bent a small part of my fender in from the rub. A 4.5" lift solved that issue and many more I had. My tires stick out about 1-2" but in the great state of Texas they don't really care.
