Will a boost leak make the truck sluggish?

I Finally got my comp back from edge so i hooked it up and threw the ol turnbuckle on my turbo wastgate. The truck doesn't seem to have much more power unless i really floor it. My boost goes up slowly to around 15psi or so most of the time and peaks out at around 27 if i really floor it and the rmps get up near 26-2700. It doesn't seem to build boost as fast as it did when i had the comp in it awhile back. I did hear what sounded like something blow off (like a wastgate) when i let off the throttle. I inspected it and didn't see any obvious leaks but it was cold and getting dark. My EGTs are also a lot higher than normal and rise quite quickly even on level 1

Is there a good method of testing for boost leaks ? What level of boost should i expect and what is the max level of boost you can get in top gear ?

Sounds like a boost leak to me. Pressurize the system and start spraying stuff with soapy water. Bubbles will indicate a leak.

Do a search on here. There are instructions for rigging up a pressurizing system.

go to local hardware store, pick up a 3 inch thin-wall pvc end-cap and a valve stem....drill hole in end cap....stick valve stem in end-cap...take loose first boot from turbo leading to inner cooler....stick it in the boot and put hose clamp back around it....pressurize the system to around 20 psi with an air tank....start spraying soapy water to see if you have a leak....don't freak out if you still have stock boots, they look really scary above 5 psi....good luck....
