Why would this setup blow a head gasket?
Went to a pull atfairgrounds in July pulled with my 00 std cab 6" stacked Dodge. I have Comp Box and 80hp inj. ,tranny done. For this pull I stacked a Superchips programer with my Comp on 5x5 and Superchips on 60hp. 298ft and stock turbo. Built like 40 some pounds boost. Replaced with another stock one.
Stacking power adders also can bring the timing up more, significantly raising your peak cylinder pressures and lifting the head. Like i've said before, boost plays a very little role in blown head gaskets, it's actually the timing that gets the job done. My 98 12v blew six HG's before I got it right. stock turbo, 16cm, 370's, 4k gsk, #5, and 18' BTDC, made 387 and 1,014. same mods except #0 plate and timing at 27' BTDC made 430 and 980. But I couldn't keep all the fluids in their place.
I have a different turbo now since my other one was going to puke. It sounded like a shop vac was sucking from the other side of the firewall. I got a Schwizter from EEP. My neighbor told me before when I had to replace the head gasket I should've put some good head studs and gasket in, should I have listened to him?
If you had the head off you should have o-ringed and studded it. Pay a little now or a little less a whole bunch of times. I learned my lesson, do it right the first time. The only thing I accomplished is training myself to be able to have the head off and prepped for a new gasket in three and a half hours

Yes, high timing adds stress to the flange, but the VP44 can only provide so much timing mechanically no matter how much timing you command it to give or how many programmers or boxes you stack. It is limited to a small range of advance and not able to provide the timing most think or have been told.
