what size do you all think is the best all around injector for pulling,towing daily driveing ect.
for my setup thanks

 

Some Formula 1 injectors from Don M, I have a set of used 2.5's from him that are a 115hp injector which would work great for u unless you tow alot and up steep grades. I upgraded to a bigger set of his injectors with my new turbo.

 

I agree -- get a set of Don M's injecters, but I would go with the Mach 1.6's. I don't have them yet but I heard great things about them. They are on my wish list.

well what i am building is a truck for something like they had on that diesel power challenge you know a truck that can tow and still be competive at pulls but also get good fuel econamy

 

It's a lot harder to build a 2nd gen to be competitive in sledpulling and still be able to pull your normal trailer. A 3rd gen has a big advantage here.

I'd recommend Don M's sticks. 1.6s are safe and will tow any trailer nicely. But they aren't big enough to be competitive at sled pulls, imo.

OTOH, Mach 4s would be much more competitive at the pulls, but be risky for trailer towing, forcing you to back out of it at times from high EGT.

Of course, you could have both with the Mach 4s if you got some twins, but that may cause a rule conflict for pulling, depending on class.

How heavy are you wanting to tow? What are the grades and altitudes operated at while towing? We set guys up quite a bit to tow with Mach 4's a good single and an adjustable box.... You can even tow with larger injectors as long as the truck is set up correct. Turbo/turbos selection is critcal when trying to build a truck like you mention.

Doug, have you guy had any experience towing with mach 6 injectors? My egt's go thru the roof but love the power that I have towing. I bought a small 130rwhp injector just for towing and to lower the smoke levels.

I guess I should preface my above post with towing reasonable weights @ normal altitudes and grades..... I have run Mach 6's and towed and yes it can get warm but I turned the boxes off and kept the rpm's up. But I am also talking about towing 10K load and less.

well guys i plan on building the truck around the horse power which means improveing the cooling system adding a oil cooler and upgradeing my intercooler
now i have a hx35/40 hybrid but am thinking of going to a twin stup with a s400 on the bottom or possibly going with ats twins

i would like to have about 350 towable horse power and still be able to pull some pretty heavey loads and with my redline box and edgecompbox push me up to 500 plus what do you think does any of this make sense or am i just fooling my self

 

LOVE my 2's.......EGT's never an issue. BUT no box either. I have seen Rjohnson’s truck with Mach 4's, JR's HX-55 and 7000 LBS. I feel that it is very doable. (Like Hohn said, a small set of twins would be a perfect setup for these sticks for towing) BUT you do have to eye the gauge. His DTT kept lugging the engine every once and a while and EGT's got a little toasty. BUT hit the OD button and it was ok. A 5/6 speed would be easier to control engine load in that aspect. BUT i would not hot shot with these injectors at all! 1.6's or 2's (With an adjustable box) would be the highest "I" would go if i towed heavy with a single........

 

Very doable with twins. More difficult with a big single. Very difficult with your present turbo...JMO.
As stated above...injectors size will depend on where you tow... and how heavy.

With twins...Mach 6's... and adjustable boxes, you can have it all

For towing and max HP in the same truck, I would stay with Mach injectors from F-1. They are, IMO, your best chance of enjoying both. http://www.f1diesel.com/
