whelen strobes
I've got a soundoff 25 watt potted, waterproof power supply with 2 hideaways in the backup lights, and they worked fine tonight with the outside temp at 7 degrees F.
In colder weather, some strobe systems have a significant warm up time before they'll operate to full potential.
By far, in my experience, the best strobe system is made by Tomar.

I do know that some solid state electronics get very lazy at low temperatures. Not sure which system you have but sounds like these are the internal power supply thingeys. If so the outside temperature could really affect them. If the power supply is inside the truck, than I don't know. I had a two meter than would not receive or transmit until it warmed up some inside the truck. We had some problems with the individual units on one of our police cruisers, a pair of rear deck strobes. With the Whalen power supply under the seat, never had a problem. The light bars have the power supply in the bar and were trouble free. May be just the particular unit. Make sure the grounds are good and the unit is getting full 12v at the power supply.
